I've never lost the selector detent. Not even once.

The front takedown pin detent, on the other hand, oh yeah I've had those enter hyperspace on me.

Lost an m16 firing pin retainer at boot. Was out of the squadbay for several hours, acted like nothing was wrong (didn't say a word) and I waited until i was on firewatch that night to shine a light under the racks..

BINGO!

Found it.

If you're on carpet, get out a lint roller and goto town.

No kidding, I've recovered several detent springs and screws for eyeglasses by using that.
Best of luck to ya.

As an FYI.... A pen spring will work for a couple years as the selector spring until you swap out your pistol grip and remember to replace it.

Order one from brownell's. You'll find the one you lost five minutes after you finalize your order. I know from experience.

The only selector detents I've seen have been brass (magnet won't pick it up).
