I can understand why you locked the "BIGPIG" thread. I can also understand why you locked the other "multiple" threads. What I can't understand is why we don't address the original problem tonite. Moderator selection is as important as administration.
I realize moderating a board takes a lot of ones time, A MODERATOR IMMEDIATELY INDICATING "I'LL LOCK THIS THREAD AND TAKE IT UP WITH SOMEONE ELSE (GoatBoy)" IS WHAT CAUSED THIS. Maybe we should institute some kind of formal policy on moderator selection. I've seen it work before. Regards Chip |

I will offer comments to the rest of the board, regarding BigPig, and pray this time they stay:
A good management technique is back your people up publically, but counsel them privately if the need arises. I will be surprised if this isn't exactly what is happening. (What would all of you people do if Goatboy stuck it to one of his mod's in public?) |

I don't personally feel that BigPig should have locked that thread but.....who cares. The BOTD type threads have degenerated into "how long can we keep this going till it gets locked?"
Steyr's outburst bought him a one way ticket, he prolly had that coming. I enjoy this site too much to get caught up in a cival war over soft-core porn. Plenty of places to go for that. |

I for one love the 'babe' threads. Lately with the 'rule' change its is hard for everyone to know what rules are current. Then when threads get long, the Mods have to check compliency.
I love the fact to be able to stay on AR15 and check out the babes. Maybe it is finally time for a forum dedicated just to 18+ stuff. Have each user say ok to something to say they are over 18 and have no mods in there.... Just a suggestion. This will clear out the GD area. I can see Garandman smiling now... [;)] |

This has nothing to do with moderators. This has everything to do with people pushing the rules and not "policing" their own threads. The babe of the day threads have been given more chances then enough and always end up getting locked because some people can't follow some simple rules.
I'll say this one more time. If you don't like the conduct rules here or the membership policy then leave. It's that simple. |

I think that if bigpig would have had a legitimate reason for locking the thread there wouldn't be a big stink right now, steyr's thread was following the rules. Theres a few of us that would like an answer to bigpigs locking of the thread besides a "pre-emptive strike"

Like i said i never really went into those threads so i don't know the backgroud off problems. But that one really was jumping the gun. I am still trying to figure out why the hottie of the day thread was locked. I really do not care for those type of threads, but that is just me.
Rules are made to be pushed, rule makers enforce the rules, someone gets to be the example, and then everyone gets the message. I think that Goatboy has a thankless job. He serves a needed function. The results of his work go unnoticed by all users. I am glad that some one else is willing to take out the trash/keep things above the belt. However, getting in a bad mood and letting that spill over into your enforcement of the rules is unprofessional. It is something that a 5 yr old would do to his 3 yr old brother when mom says he cant play with his toys anymore but does so when mommy is outta sight. I feel for the job you have to do, but remember that you will gain the respect of those who you enforce the rules upon more with diplomacy than with anger. |

I didnt ban people for the threads, I locked all but one thread and explained why. I didnt let my anger overtake my duties.
The difference tonight is that when I was pushed and pushed and pushed I threw down instead of walking away. If anything I am too nice and too easy going, just picked a bad night to be rude. After telling a 3 year old to stop doing something 3-4 times you need to punish them. Right? Exactly... |

SteyrAUG banned? You've got to be shitting me! For what? Maybe I've missed something in transit, but it seems to me he had a right to question the "top ten" thread being locked.
I'm not trying to just talk shit for no reason here, but it seems to me that the thread was within the "guidelines". Am I incorrect? I know a "moderator" decided it wasn't, but even goatboy said that he knew it was going to be interesting putting this mod in GD for the first time tonight. It seems that even the moderators can't even agree what the "guidelines" are. I guess in the end it doesn't really matter, since it is after all a private message board and you who have the power can do whatever you wish. But when people try to stay within the perimeters of your guidelines, and then still get their threads locked by a moderator, they should at least be able to ask why. I'm not trying to talk shit. But overall this seems pretty trivial to ban someone over. Again, maybe I missed something inbetween threads. |

From the title of the post you look like you left out the "Neener Neener". GoatBoy you seem to be taunting a response from the masses; which makes you look as childish as the ones you feel the need to banish. Maybe a title of "Why I did what I did" would be a little more respectable. I am like the a lot of the other responders here in the fact that I did not frequent the BOTD threads. Don't get me wrong I like skin and deep, explicit hard core porn with extreme....(never mind!) as much as the next guy but, I saw no problem with those threads (mainly because I did not look at them) If you know you're not going to like what you're gonna see [B]DON'T LOOK[/B]. Damn, it's like BigPig shot an unarmed man dead in cold blood with some of you.
[b]It's just an Internet site people.[/b] If BigPig locks one of the [b]daily[/b] BOTD threads there will be another one as certain as the sun will rise. It's not the end of the earth. Heck, try click on this if you need a fix: [url]www.playboy.com[/url]. The proper way for SteyrAug to go about this was in private between BigPig with a CC: to GoatBoy. I've done this three or four times with idiots who now do not bother you anymore [:D]. Juan is not some fool and keeps this sight alive and healthy by enforcing the rules, and that means having to get ugly on someone every once in awhile. The BOTD posts were a PITA as they waste a lot of my time and bandwidth having to police them for over the line content. (You remember the scat and the XXX gay porn pictures right?) But that's why I get paid the big bucks, get the fancy office with the window, and occassionaly GoatBoy lets me take the company Humvee home for the weekend (when's my next turn BTY). I'm certain that SteyrAug has half a clue and will email Juan off-line and out of our public viewing. Now move along there's nothing left to see here people. |

Unlock Steyr Aug and ask him to return to this forum. He is one of the best members here and this site will not be the same untill he returns and returns as Steyr Aug. This site has become more and more moderated for a while now, and locking a tread because a mod thinks it is going to need locking soon anyway is just too much. What may just happen if this keeps up is people may stop posting and this site will die a slow death. This used to be a fun place to spend some time but lately things around here are not as much fun.
