With no successor wouldn't that destabalize the region? What is your thoughts on this subject?
Link Posted: 10/29/2004 11:37:53 AM EST
One more dead muslim terrorist. Where's the down side to that?
Link Posted: 10/29/2004 11:38:23 AM EST
Because he's a murdering bastard that directly ordered the execution of a US diplomat in Sudan.

Who gives a shit who replaces him, this dog turd needs to die ex post haste.

Yes It could destabilize the region, but it could also promote new leadership.

I hope he is out of there soon, because although he condemns bombings/terror etc.. it hasn't gotten any better on his watch either.

Hopefully someone will be able to lead, that holds the same vision, but is not double sided and on one hand condemn the bombings, but on the other hand pay for them.

that area just needs new leadership, and arafat is a kook anyways.

ETA: kook not cook.

How much more can the region be de-stablized?

I hope his death is painful...

WTF is that supposed to mean? What stability presently exists? They want their own state. Israel says "OK, FOAD" and withdraws; the savages attack. Arafat either can't or won't keep a lid on the goatfuckers in his shitty little district. There are a number of active terror groups affiliated with Arafat's "party." Arafat has accomplished nothing that benefits anyone other than himself.

The situation is this: Arafat's death won't make things any worse. It may make them better, either by putting a semi-civilized thug in power as his replacement, or by diverting the Palestinian animals' homicidal lust to intramural murders as various tinhorn mullahs, generalissimos, and wanna-be Saladins struggle for power. In any event, Arafat's demise will mean there's one more dead Muslim terrorist, and that's always a good thing, regardless of the politics.

Exactly. He does nothing to help the region.

And he is a filthy, evil terrorist.

I hope his death is painful...

It doesn't matter.

Shortly thereafter, he will be burning in Hell. Forever. Remembering what an idiot he was.

You call that region stable?

I'm all for the internecine fighting that would result from the power vacuum of Arafat's passing. Better that they spend their time, energy, and high explosives killing each other than in blowing up Israeli busses and restaurants.

I'm all for Arafat assuming room temperature.

If Arafat dies before naming a sucsessor, the militant side of the PLO will run wild. With no one to try and reign them in, they will go after the Israelis with reckless abandon. The Izzys will bring payback to the extreme.
The Israelis will have no choice but to respond hard and fast to each attack. They will go back into Gaza and not leave. Of course the Syrians will be pissed and probably do something stupid. The Israelis will fuck them up too and the End will begin.

Just one guys opinion.
Link Posted: 10/29/2004 11:49:34 AM EST
less terrorist leaders = always good.

arafat has been the biggest roadblock to Arab-Israeli peace in the last 15 years. the last 4 or 5 Palestinian 'prime ministers' have resigned b/c arafat won't give up power and crack down on hamas/islamic jihad/al aqusa martyrs/etc..

OK, I could deal with all that....

"Explain Why The Death Of Arafat Is Good?"

I don't like him.
Link Posted: 10/29/2004 12:05:06 PM EST
Arafat is an old fool who missed the chance to create a Palistinian State back in the 80's … he blew it, and his only way to hang onto power was to play the 'zionist' card to divert the anger at the poverty and hoplelessness endemic in his totally corupt regime outside his turf in case the Palistinians realise he is the problem.

If you are not up on your 20th century history, up until 9-11-01 Arafat was the world's most successful terrorist. Most of the unrest in the displaced Jordanian Arab (Palestinian) population has been incited by him. He keeps the area unstable. Planerench out.

An unstable region CANNOT be destabilized.

What they been doin' ain't been working. Let's try something new.

Link Posted: 10/29/2004 12:14:59 PM EST
It isn't really 'good' in the sense that anything will change. He's kind of yesterday's news as far as terrorism goes. 'National Liberation' as a motive force for terror is more a thing of the Cold War. They've been eclipsed by the Islamo-Facists.

He's just a vicious lowlife and murdering thug who richly deserves a painful end to his life.

I hope his death is slow, fucking painful, and there are Israelis there at the last minute to piss on his grave. Good fucking riddance, you lying, murderous, two faced, power hungry piece of shit.

He has never crusaded for the actual resolution of war with Israel, but rather to perpetuate his own power and keep his place in the world. He's had hundreds of chances to sit down to a peaceful resolution, and has never seriously contemplated a single one.

May you burn in hell.

The death or Arafat is VERY GOOD - because he has consistently shown himself to be so dishonest and untrustworthy, that it is IMPOSSIBLE for the Israelis to negotiate any agreements with him. In the past, he has agreed to things, and then blatantly ignored his own promises.

As long as he is a "leader" there will be NO peace, NO real agreements, and NO progress.

So his death is a GREAT thing - because there's at least a chance that his replacement might actually be trustworthy and someone that we and the Israeli's can deal with.

All good terrorists are dead !
Link Posted: 10/29/2004 5:11:42 PM EST
First of all, I doubt he'll die now. He's getting medical care and is likely to survive for a while.

Now comes another issue. Will Israel allow him to return to Ramallah? Exhile makes it much harder, if not impossible, to run the day-to-day operations.

Now, if he dies, where to bury him? The place he wants to be buried is also considered a holy place In Jerusalem by Jews. Problem there.

As to the original question, it's good for Pelestinians more than anyone else. He has been the sole stumbling block to a substantive peace accord with Isreal for years. He was on the verge of signing when Clinton was in office. He backed out at the last minute when he realized it would leave him in the uncomfortable position of no longer being in charge of a cause, but instead being in charge of a normalized society, living alongside their sworn enemy, Israel. How could he possibly save face by signing a peace treaty with Jews who he has spent his life trying to "push into the sea"?

Link Posted: 10/29/2004 6:35:41 PM EST
Did he fly in on a private bird to Paris? If so, intercept him and shoot it down....

That fits in with the Bush Doctrine of preemptive action against groups or nations that threaten the U.S. or it's allies

Lat time I looked he/the PLO is a terrorist group...and Israel is a ally.....

He and the PLO has be given a level of statehood by not only the Useless Nations, but by governments themselves...hell they even have a office in Washington D.C.....that is unacceptable...

The difference is that the Izzys can kill whoever takes Arafat's place without the effects of killing Arafat.

Yassir has never been a 'stabilizing' force, he is an obstacle that the Israelis cannot just 'eliminate' like a Hamas or IJ leader...

With him gone, the next 'Pali leader' will be just-another-terrorist...

Yes...Someone will take his place...However...Their "Head Master" Will no longer be able to collect another "Nobel Peace Prize"....Therefore...and just my 2 cents...They must be concerned about who is willing to be the next Tango

This could be Fun from the sidelines....

What could POSSIBLY be the downside to that POS going belly up?

My only regret is if the murderous fuck dies of natural causes rather than the Israelies dropping a building on him. They should have wasted his worthless ass years ago!!

DIE MOTHERFUCKER!!!! DIE SOON!!!!!

Arab and Palestinian politics have ossified around a series of bad ideas from the 60's and 70's. Arafat was the old, lefty Arab secularist radical terrorist, and Hamas et al are the Islamist radicals. With Arafat out of the way there's a slim chance that some other secular or not quite so stupidly violent leadership could take over, and Hamas is in leader-of-the-week mode with the Israelis killing them off.

Stability is bad when the stable situation can be summed up as "fucked". The Palestinians have never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Maybe another set of leaders won't be quite so blinkered.
