Will this keep me awake tonight, or does it suck? Skank kinda creeps me out.

Link Posted: 10/26/2013 8:19:09 PM EST
I thought it was meh. I much preferred the original.
Link Posted: 10/26/2013 8:20:34 PM EST
its kinda creepy and the gore actually made me squirm than some real videos..
Link Posted: 10/26/2013 8:21:08 PM EST
The original is in a class all by itself.

The remake I thought was really good. My wife even enjoyed it and she doesn't like horror movies.

I liked them all, each has its merits.

I didn't really like it. Evil Dead 2 is the best one by far.
Link Posted: 10/26/2013 8:40:34 PM EST
You have to see it if you're a fan of the original. Not really scary, but it had it's moments.
Link Posted: 10/26/2013 9:30:56 PM EST
Gore, no scare.

It's worth checking out. Remember that it's a remake of the first film. Yes, Bruce Campbell was in the original but there was no Chainsaw arm, hail to the king baby bullshit in it. So don't expect any silliness. It's pretty much a straight up gorefest.

What??? The original and number 3 are completely different, and kick ass movies in their on categories. Number 2 is ok but not anywhere 1 and 3.

The remake was good on its on merit, better than most horror moves coming out right about now. I still don't think it compares to the original.

Also, btw, if you haven't see cabin in the woods, and you like a good twist in the end of a movie, it is really good. Not the same as most crap horror movies coming out right recently.

I preferred the original. I kinda thought the remake sucked, which was surprising considering Raimi was the exec producer.

I liked The Cabin in the Woods a lot better.

Like the current Carrie remake, they really hit out of the park with the Evil Dead remake.

Heads and shoulders above the remakes of Halloween, Friday, and Elm Street.

It's awesome.
No cgi and they used tanker trucks full of blood.
I've been meaning to buy it.
Link Posted: 10/26/2013 10:37:48 PM EST

Meh.
Link Posted: 10/26/2013 11:02:17 PM EST
not as good as orig, but has good gore & creepiness to it

That's what I got out of it. A lot of gore, but really no good scares.

I though the male actors were terrible and there were a lot of cringe-worthy lines of dialogue too.

People end up smoking turds in hell for saying things like that.

Remake? WTF? thats ghey... whats with all the remakes.. nobody has any ideas of their own apparently.
ETA- maybe I heard about this before and just forgot..
Link Posted: 10/27/2013 2:33:24 AM EST
It's alright, not as cool as the first.
Link Posted: 10/27/2013 2:40:56 AM EST
I enjoyed all the little nods to the original. The scene after the credits was the ultimate troll, I loved it.

Bruce Campbell too.

The Evil Dead remake was geared toward people like me. Case in point the opening scene NSFW

This.

I liked all 4 movies. My one true issue with the remake is that while Bruce was heavily involved he didn't have any cameos.

He shows up at the end of the credits

It is legit. They plan on having Army of Darkness separate from the Evil Dead remake world and eventually bring the two of them together in Evil Dead 3

The Original was much better

Link Posted: 10/27/2013 7:00:51 AM EST
i liked it. all they did was remake it...they didnt change anything
Link Posted: 10/27/2013 7:02:07 AM EST
Original was better. Best recent horror film was Cabin in the Woods.
Link Posted: 10/27/2013 7:16:27 AM EST
Pretty good really, fairly creepy. The original everyone always says was campy, but the intent was surrealism. That was missing
Link Posted: 10/27/2013 7:17:46 AM EST
I watched it and now cannot remember anything about it.

There's your answer.
Link Posted: 10/27/2013 7:24:53 AM EST
I enjoyed it. I thought there was some good fan service to the original. That said I am partial to the original. Worth a watch though if you appreciate the series but not a replacement by any stretch.

Any scenes with Jane Levy naked? Otherwise, never mind.

Link Posted: 10/27/2013 7:50:25 AM EST
It was "okay" but the original was, well, more "original" somehow.

this. not exactly good.

some of the plot elements felt forced ie chainsaw and hand.

personally the best movie in the ED category in the last few years is Cabin in the woods although tucker and dale vs evil would fit right in too(the ending being contrived knocks it out of first)
Link Posted: 10/27/2013 8:18:10 AM EST
Different from the original, but I thought they did a spectacular job maintaining the suspense. That movie scared the ever livving shit out of me. Its probably one of the top horror flicks in my book.
