Hello-
Some of you may remember this thread:
Dropped AR in Creek for 12 Days
I suffered a tragic boating accident, really I did, and recovered my AR from the bottom of a creek 12 days later. The sight I was using was an EOTech 512. The pictures were lost from the thread, but here are some before and after photos:

As you can see, the EOTech still worked after being submerged for almost 2 weeks in freezing water and the AR fired fine after disassembly and cleaning.
Now, to the point. With the vouchers being handed out because of the EOTech lawsuit, we have another unique opportunity to do some real-world testing. I propose to everyone who is going to throw away their voucher out of disgust for EOTech, consider sending me the code. I want to replicate what happened to my rifle in that creek and I want to try it with a newer generation EOTech sight.
I will mount a new EOTech to my AR and throw it in the creek again. Yes, you read that right, I will throw my AR into a creek. I will do this when the water is just starting to freeze and leave it for a minimum of 2 weeks. I will do it with the bolt closed and a magazine inserted so I can also do a reliability check afterward. I will also do range testing with a cooler full of dry ice and a portable heater to try to simulate temperature changes as best as I can. All of this will be video recorded and produced for the members here at ARFCom.
I already have 3 members who have graciously donated their voucher codes and I would like to get enough to at least get a 512 for testing. Once I have enough vouchers, I will contact EOTech. We have a large contingent of shooters here and I think a test like this would be in the interest of the members and EOTech.
Please consider this request and hopefully we can make this happen together. If anyone has any questions, please contact me.
Thank you
