Just recently today, it seems like every time I stand up kinda quick, I start to get light headed and feel like I'm going to pass out. A couple of times, I started to black out, but that's as bad as it's gotten.
So, what would cause this? Could low or high blood pressure do this? If it doesn't get any better, should I go to the hospital? Also, my doctor has me taking Vicodin ES, could that cause it? I've never had any issues with Vicodin before, but I took it on pretty much an empty stomach. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,
Kris

UPDATE:
I went to the plant medical department (at work right now) and had them check my BP. It's 90/60 I'm on BP meds, but I'm normally at around 130/90. She said drink a cup of coffee and come back in about half an hour.

Kris it could be a lot of things. But usually it is dehydration. Drink plenty of water. Low blood pressure. It woudl be some vertigo. It oculd be a lot of things. If water doesn't fix it see a doc asap.

Go to the doc. Your blood pressure is dropping when you stand up. This isn't normal supposed to happen.

It's most likely your new meds and your doc will need to adjust your dose...

I re-read your post... Don't know if vicoden would cause that or not... Still need to visit the doc though.

That happens to me occasionally. I actually blacked out once from it. I've been told it's due to low blood pressure, and I am on the low side of average for BP.

If you're over thirty, go buy a blood pressure machine, you'll need it later for sure...

I'd get it checked out. I started doing the same thing. Every few days I'd be walking along, and then all of a sudden, the room is spinning. If something wasn't in reach, it was face, meet Mr. Carpet. Had an MRI done, but didn't show anything. The doctor diagnosed it as Benign Positional Vertigo. It's gone away for the most part, but it actually gave me motion sickness a couple of times.

ETA: My blood work was all good, for me it's just an inner-ear thing going on.

You are most likely dehydrated. Go drink some water, several glasses worth over the next few hours. Then, you'll be fine.

Don't take this badly, but my wife's friend's husband passed out unexpectadly one day. Went to the doctor. Found out he had cancer and they gave him 3 months to live. They just put him in the ground.

Go see a doc.

In all seriousness, it could be a lot of things. Low blood pressure, hypovolemia (low blood volume), dehydration, diabetes, anemia, or even Addison's Disease, a rather rare disease where your adrenal glands don't produce enough of certain hormones, for example.

DO NOT IGNORE IT. Trust me.

I had that for a while, and it got so bad in me that once when standing up I passed out for about a second, whereupon I decided to go get checked out. Turns out I was severely anemic, so much I shouldn't really have been conscious except it had been happening so slowly my body had gotten used to it. My hemoglobin was a third of the minimum it should have been. Ended up I have ulcerative colitis and was slowly bleeding into my gut, slow enough I didn't notice, but enough that it got to that level. I needed a transfusion, 4 units packed red cells.

Just had a script to vicodin for a pulled wisdom tooth and never had that problem. I've also heard dehydration can cause this but am not a DR. Also heard if you're urine is dark yellow can be dehydration.

There is a postural orthostatic something or other. I think the acronym is POTS. It means that your body doesn't close off veins in your legs and naturally increase blood pressure when you stand or change position.

BOTTOM LINE: SEE A DOCTOR

Alcohol's both a vasodilator and a diuretic, those'll drop your pressure even lower. Not good. Stay away from the beer.

It happens to me occasionally, but that's because I'm tall and have low blood pressure to begin with. If it's something that only just started happening, you should probably get it checked, just to make sure.

Edit: DAMMIT ALL I WASTED POST 1911 ON THIS AND I WAS GOING TO USE IT TO MAKE A THREAD WITH PICS OF MY CZ CLONE, TO PISS OFF THE 1911 FANS.

Drink more water until you are good and hydrated (clear urine), if that does not solve it go see a doctor.

Sometimes that happens to me too.

Sinus problems can cause dizzyness too. I'm going to have some PVC pipe installed in mine just to some relief.

If it started happening while you were taking the Vicodin, it very well could be related to that. If I were taking Vicodin and got light headed when I stood up, I would suspect the hydrocodone first.

Common side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, drowsiness, euphoria, vomiting, and constipation.

Not a doctor, don't play one on TV.
Didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
My opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it.

HA! What kind of a side effect is euphoria?? Anyways, I've been taking the hydro for a while now. This is the first time this has happened.

Seriously, as a doctor explained it and as best as I can remember, there are these rods in your ears and if they are out of alignment it will make you dizzy, lightheaded, off balance, etc. All kinds of effects.

This also happened to a rabbit I used to have... One day I looked at it and it looked like it's neck was broken. The thing apparently didn't know which way was up/down anymore because of his ear... Tried/hopped around like that for a couple weeks before it's meds kicked in.

If that's your problem you will definitely need to see a doctor.

Your body doesn't stay the same every day chemically. See a medical professional
