Yep. That was the method used with me. There's nothing like trying to pick Ivory soap out of your teeth.

It only happened once though.

I bit down on a bar of soap once...

I thought that since it smelled so good, that it was only logical that it would taste good as well....

<BR>

It was delicious!

I had a teacher in elementary school who would do it, but never to me. There was a sink in the class room and it was a show to say the least. I can only remember one guy having to do it, but he did it several times. I don't imagine that would go over well today.

ETA
The method was the bar scraping mentioned above.

Yep and then got an ass beating when pops got home. Back then your punishment wasn't over until dad was done - sometimes it would go dean/principal, mom, dad.

Yes, I do not remember why but I remember that bar of soap.

Yep.........apparently from Moms tales of my childhood. I had quite the potty mouth.

The F-word was my favorite according to her. My parents never, ever cursed around me until I was in my late teens. However my older brothers thought I was an oversized parrot and taught me every word imaginable.

Had it done to me. I think it is a very stupid punishment and doesn't really have much effect.
Link Posted: 2/26/2007 3:38:17 PM EST
I voted yes, but where is the I like pie option?
Link Posted: 2/26/2007 3:42:15 PM EST

Yes. My mom also used crushed up dried our red hot peppers. She's put some of that in our mouths and we'd buckle then and there.

That seemed like cruel punishment, because when you get something that hot in your mouth for cussing, all you want to do is yell vulgarities from the heat.
My childhood vernacular caused a taste aversion to hot foods for me
Link Posted: 2/26/2007 4:10:24 PM EST
Yep, only once though.
My dad did it to me when he heard me say "shit", this was back in 1963.

Glad he can't hear me now (actually he probably can....).
Link Posted: 2/26/2007 4:13:30 PM EST
Yeah, Ivory and Dawn both taste like shit.
Link Posted: 2/26/2007 4:16:29 PM EST
Yes, from a sitter - and I never could learn my lesson because both of my parents talk like sailors!
Link Posted: 2/26/2007 4:19:13 PM EST
There was one time when my mom came to the school. She asked the principal if she could use his office...

Yeah, I got it even worse when I got home.

That sort of thing today, and she'd probably have gotten arrested after some well meaning libtard teacher called the police for child abuse.

We had a talk about this at work the other day and reached the conclusion that the cut off on this sort of thing was kids born before 1983. Most of the ones after that didn't get this type of punishment.
Link Posted: 2/26/2007 4:28:43 PM EST
No. Usually an ass beating from my old mans dinner-plate-sized hands was plenty. Oh and theres that littel thing called lye poisioning.

Yes. Dial Yellow.
Love the smell but hate the taste

Unlike my brother, my mouth was never "washed out", I was smart enough not to swear in front of my parents (Dad would just spank the offender, Mom grabbed the Dial).

But my brother was a little bastard and would rub my toothbrush in the soap on occasion, so I'd get a good taste of it before realizing something was wrong.

I was born in '81, little brother in '83.

Yes. Ivory soap. I didn't even do anything to deserve it.

When I was five and my parents were sorting things into boxes (I forget why), there was one labeled "misc." and of course, being five, I didn't know that was short for "miscellaneous," so I pronounced it "misk..." and my mother thought I called her "miss shit." Grabbed by my hair and ear, marched to the sink as I was trying to tell them they misheard me, and scrubbed. After it was over and they finally let me explain, well... I think they said "sorry," but that's it.

Then, once, when I was ten, I was complaining about some punishment or other, and my father said "did we ever punish you when you didn't deserve it?" Well... of course, kids always remember the things their parents don't want them to, don't they?

Edit: Even before then, and still today, I never swore in front of my parents. Of course, they both swear like sailors who run out of time and money just before finishing up.

I got two kids, both around 18. One got the soap the other didn't. The one that did turned out to have the better manners.
