Look at the election numbers for the French presidential voting.

-The "moderate" Chirac at 19.8%
-The "Extreme Right" Le Pen at 16.9%
-Socialist Jospin at 16.1%

...In an election with [b]16[/b] candidates.  And at that, the extreme right and left are neck and neck.  No wonder the they've had something like 56 different governments and constitutions since Napoleon.
