We've grounded other aircraft in the past for various reasons as well.

A number of variants of F-15s had to be grounded not to long ago.  These things happen to operational aircraft. They don't even know for sure whether the Carbon Dioxide is really an issue with the F-22 they're just taking precautions by making sure they can rule it out.

The F-35 JSF is in development and is not yet deployed. Delays in development happen and it's important that you ID problems before they go into full production.  They're building a sophisticated multi-role stealth jet not a 2012 Ford Focus.

One of the beauties of our nuclear arsenal is that it has 3 legs, so while some aircraft might be grounded we still have quite a few steel tubes floating around the ocean with ballistic missles in them and their are a bunch of big holes in the ground scattered across the midwest which have quite a few missles in them.

So while we might have our pants off, it doesn't mean were not armed.

Yep.  I'm sure we still have the ability to blow the living crap out everything on earth, even without the planes, if we so feel the need.  God I love the USA.

F-22s due to the (was told "minor") oxygen issue

F-35s - new plane, there will be problems, not widely used.

B-2s are still up.

Wasn't the F-22s "oxygen issue" caused because they were running the engines in a closed hanger?

Yeah, didn't read the report, but have been following this on DT. The pilots are now losing currency in the airframe and will have to go through upgrade training, or a truncated version of it. SIms isn't cutting it alone.

BFD, its not they were going to ship them to Libya or over here to AFG.

Not enough tanker support to use them in any real war where they would make a difference anyway
