Police K9 in a neighboring town:

"The 13-year-old German shepherd had tried to walk in, but after standing for most of the ride up - the sirens along the way sparked a reaction that was second nature to him - he wasn't able to. His handler, Sgt. Art Merrigan, carried his partner inside instead."

End of watch

Reminds me of my 13YO GSD. He couldn't stand in the end, but by God he managed to walk into the vet that day. He knew what was up; his dignity wouldn't allow for less.

I'm gonna go wipe the dust out of my eye now.

From what it reads like, poochy was already retired but he was just at that age where his quality of life was not there and the dept he worked (BOW PD) and also NH Staties came out to honor him as they brought him to the Vet.
