If you end up alone with your standard bug out bag and run into another person what occupation do you wish they held prior to the end of the world/zombie apoc./etc?

Say you know nothing about this person, you know nothing about what gear they may or may not have.  Try to pick a generic person (mid 30's male, good health/condition, etc).

What occupation do you feel would be best beneficial as someone to team up with and why?

The stereotypical farmer.Think of all the diverse skills you need to maintain a small family farm: mechanical skills, carpentry, animal husbandry, probably some basic medical skills, and obviously growing food. Now think of the typical rural lifestyle and culture and the skills that go with that: hunting, fishing, basic outdoor survival.Problem is that these types of people are getting to be few and far between.

combat medic... most of the wounds you get during the zombie apoc. are going to need someone with the right skills to handle.

Farmer vs Seal.   Hmmmm. I'd have to hope for a Seal if heavy fighting and or long term specific plans of engagement/silent movement were needed. If the infection was contained or we were relatively safe "think Hershel's farm before the bug out night" then I'd hope for a farmer.

Special Forces Medic 18D. They are highly trained in the normal skills that a soldier would have but they are trained with idea they will have to handle anything remotely medical that might come up. They are given training in everything from combat wounds, to dentistry, to veterinary medicine. Additionally they would likely be cross trained as either a weapons expert, communications specialist, or as an engineer. Pretty hard to beat that.

Zombie scenario you would want a farmer. Financial collapse you would want a SEAL. Zombie's are not that smart, Right?

Those guys will be held up on their homestead, most probably won't know the world ended until the next time they go into town for supplies.

Farmer...because we aren't fighting men, I've never met one that couldn't shoot or swing an axe, and his skills would be more useful long term.  If it was an invasion scenario and the enemy was a foreign military then it changes.

Well I'm no farmer per say, but I can grow a lot of produce in my garden, can butcher my own meat, and am an avid hunter. I would want to run across someone who can make antibiotics from moldy bread and can synthesize a pain killer from indigenous flora. Because all the fighting skill in the world won't save you from a nasty infection.

I would want to stumble across a good friend of mine could trust.  Half these people probably already came across somebody, killed them and took their things.  I have a few good friends I could trust, the rest are all treated as hostiles.

All depends. I would like someone similar to me. Having grew up in a gun shop with my father being a machinist and welder and my mother being a homesteader I learned a lot of in general info. I worked in a slaughter house and now a lead mechanic at a plant. So I guess I'd want another jack of all trades. Reloading would be a must cause I'm only reloading my own ammo.
