Electronic hearing protection, 3M Peltor, or you are wasting your money.
It is one of those, you spend your money once, it will last you for a long time, until you lost it.

Before the Peltor I bought (Tactical 6S), I had 3 different sets, all the electronic went bad before the foam falls apart or the rubber cracked. My Peltor is on its 3rd set of foam, and still work fine.

So you want to buy a cheap pair multiple times, or one moderate priced item once?

We've had a couple sets of Caldwell for years that still work great, the plastic ear piecesare getting hard, but soften when they warmup on your head.

That being said , I now have the HLIS as mentioned above.

What constitutes "not a lot of money"?
Link Posted: 10/29/2013 2:21:36 PM EST
I use these. $30 I never used anything more expensive.... I wonder if they would do a better job.

I use the cheap ones from Harbor Freight. $15 or so.

Not the best, or lo-pro, or any bells or whistles, but they work just fine.

I always use foam plugs underneath.

I have a $60 pair of peltors. They are ok for pistol, but I don't like them for rifle.

Look for metal head hoops and very strong attachments. I have broken several that got thrown in my range bag/box. My Peltors remained fairly sturdy but they have prblems too.

Most of my fellow RO's wear the Howard Leight's and like them. I just ordered a pair from Amazon.

I also had peltor tac 6. Mine were really picky about how you put the batteries in! They are OK but not worth 60-70 bucks.

Peltor ComTac. I've had a set since 2003 or so. Great electronic ear pro.

Yup, got 3 pairs and they're awesome. You can go from a whisper to shooting with no problems.
