I saw this tonight . . .

Really enjoyed it.  Emotionally manipulative, and hard at some points, but I generally thought it was a good movie.

Anyone else see it?

Based on the 1983 Japanese movie Antarctica (with a soundtrack by Vangelis) which itself was based on a true story. In real life only two of the dogs survived.

I choked up a dozen times during my screening tonight.  I miss my dog, I have this shitty cat and it's just no substitute.  Tigger, if you would have stopped biting people you'd still be alive.  It was a horribly emotional experience for me tonight.  I miss my dog.  I can't wait until I can have a dog again.  They understand you and want to cooperate.  I think I cried four times tonight thinking about my dog.

Maybe you guys think I'm a pussy for crying about a dog, but if you ever loved your dog you would know what's up.  I wish the Rainbow Bridge was true, and that I'd see her again.

I so miss my dog.  God dammit Tigger, why did you bite so many people?  She bit six people.  I had her put down.  God damn it!  I wish you were here to lick my face.

Not a pussy at all!!!  My dogs are like my children.  Never had kids, so that might be why.  I'd be worthless for days if something tragic like that happened to them.

You know, I used to leave her at the dog park and head up to the Coffee Bean to get something hot to drink while she played with the local German Shorthaired, she would just stand in the corner of the park waiting for me to come back and then she would kick the shit out of any dog in the park that night.  She was a tough dog.  I miss her so bad.  No doubt she was crazy.  What woman isn't.  But she bit... there was nothing I could do.  I had this one guy that trained attack dogs come and look at her and check her out.  He said he wouldn't have her within ten feet of his children, she was just crazy and bit... what else can you do?  I tried to be responsible and have her put down.

But that was my dog.  She trusted me to take care of things.

Dammit.

ETA:  See the movie, it was great, the lead was good, and Astoria, OR is beautiful.  I will see it again.
