East Boston Man Charged with Selling Bogus Green Cards, Reports U.S. Attorney

BOSTON, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- An East Boston man was charged Friday in federal court on fraudulent document charges.
United States Attorney Michael J. Sullivan and Matthew J. Etre, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in New England, announced today that NOE AGUIRRE, a/k/a CARLOS, a Mexican citizen living in East Boston, was charged in a four-count information with transferring fraudulent documents.
The information alleges that between May 28, 2004, and August 8, 2004, AGUIRRE knowingly sold Social Security cards and resident alien cards, or "green cards," knowing that those cards were stolen or forged.
If convicted on these charges, AGUIRRE faces up to 15 years imprisonment, to be followed by 3 years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney S. Waqar Hasib of Sullivan's Major Crimes Unit.
The details contained in the complaint are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
