The world honey bee population has plunged in recent years, worrying beekeepers and farmers who know how critical bee pollination is for many crops. A number of theories have popped up as to why the North American honey bee population has declined––electromagnetic radiation, malnutrition, and climate change have all been pinpointed. Now a leaked EPA document reveals that the agency allowed the widespread use of a bee-toxic pesticide, despite warnings from EPA scientists.

This can't be right. It's climate change. They've said so all along.

Awesome!

The retarded ban on DDT not only kills 600,000 African children per year will now cost us honey bees as well.

Interesting. To get you non agriculturalists up to speed:

Clothianidin (sold under the brands Prosper, Poncho and Poncho Beta) is a seed treatment used to protect crops from early season soil and leaf pests such as aphids, beet leaf miners,
black cutworms, corn rootworms, flea beetles, grubs, leaf hoppers and wire worms. Clothianidin is absorbed by plants and then released in pollen and nectar to kill pests, which accounts for the bees dieing off.

The compound is an acetylcholine antagonist, which a common mode of action for insecticides. ACh is an important neurotransmitter.

This.

Diazinon, malathion, DDT, permethrins, Sevin, you name it, will kill bees if not used properly.

Don't any of these activist groups have access to a competent toxicologist?

Come to think of it, does the EPA have any scientists working in its pesticide division anymore?

I suggest that you look up the word "pollination" in the dictionary.  Then do some basic reading about the food you eat - and how pollination by bees is essential to those crops.

I'll wait.
