I am in the middle of rebuilding my cable system to support broadband.
Lots of people are interested in broadband services, especially VOIP telephone service.

Cable companies are positioned to become the dominant carrier in telephone services in the next few years.

I run my own private cable company.

My grandfather built it in 1952, he ran it, my dad ran it for 40 years, and I have been running it for the last 10 years.

We were the 43rd cable system constructed in the country.

Touchet Valley Television.
Dayton, WA

sorry for the hijack.

Good God 9 years of dial up???

Once you go to cable, you will NEVER go back

Enjoy the fast downloading

Nice.

I use two motorolla wireless backhaul antennas between my workplace (an internet service provider), and my house.

I have it tied into the same wrap board that our access points for my city run on, so I am sharing bandwidth with them.

Best speed test so far during peak traffic time (around 5 pm here) -

No way. I work for an ISP, and dial-up is still one of our largest money makers. We have 21,000 local dial-up customers still, not to mention our T1, wireless, and DSL customers. A lot of money.

As soon as the cheap 128K connections for $14.95 via cable or dsl hits the market it will kill dial up.

we allready have that with my company, 128/128k 802.11b fixed wireless. We do get a lot of dial-up customers going for that.

But it only takes a week or two before they want to upgrade to 256, 768, or 1mb offerings
