I remembered seeing a show on it a few years back, and thought the idea seemed pretty good.

Once the manufacture furnished actual testing samples, that fact became obvious to everyone that cared.

Didja bother to check Wikipedia?

Seems like the stuff was one of the following (hard to tell from Wiki):

1) Good stuff that had gotten railroaded/blackballed b/c the .mil didn't ask for it and doesn't like stuff shoved down their throats

OR

2) Marginally performing stuff that had alot of glamor coverage in the media that was flushed out in SOME .mil trials.

Interesting how long this saga has gone on, and how that company is still in business.
