Having been employed in my earlier years in the restaurant business (as a dishwasher and a busboy) I remember the wait staff murmuring about how It was to make a living on what they were paid and the tips (and of course splitting a small bit of their tips with the busboy) I always wondered what could be done to thank them.

Now I believe I have come to a solution… one of thanks, one that is small and yet large… one that can be shared by all…

If you and yours go out for dinner to an establishment that it is customary to tip… why not do a double tip… call it “double tip thank you “ to the wait staff… if you normally pay 15% then please up it to 30%, if 20% then up it to 40%… if you do 100% .. well thank you because you can…

Remember that these people are working on the holiday to make ends meet just like you and me. And just like you and me, they would surely like to be able to make more for their hard work on a holiday.

Please pass this far and wide and lets see what smiles we can bring to those who sometimes need them most.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I always do that!  I got breakfast this morning at a Jack in the Box drive thru.  I paid with a debit card, then handed the lady a $5 bill.  It took her a few seconds to catch on, and the smile she had was worth it.

I tip based on service not just because. If I get shitty service on a holiday expect a shitty tip. I don't  eat out on holidays tho so it's a non issue.

If I ate out today, then I wouldn't mind tipping 40%. Working on a holiday would suck.

So some in the GD want me to tip the guy behind the Delhi counter for making me a hero/hogie, whatever for doing something that they were hired to do and are already being paid an hourly wage for.
These same people want me to tip the counter person at Dunkin Donuts for placing my donuts into a box or for making me coffee, again for doing their job.
They want me to tip they guy for changing my oil, my brakes etc because they did a good job despite it being their job to do a good job on behalf of their customer and emloyer.
Now I have to tip double for eating out because it is a holiday

You wonder why this country is so fucked, and yes I worked in restaurants as a dishwasher, busboy, bar back, waiter, brunch cook, bar tender, and doorman while in HS and college and every job was by choice. Fact was most of the staff wanted to work the Holidays because people were more generous but no one ever expected more than what was customary for a good job.

No.

As usual, any tip would be based on service, not whatever day of the year it happens to be.

Waiter was too fat, would spend it on junk food.
Waitress, well, too skinny, think she was 'on' something.
I KID!!!!!!!!!!!
I always tip well, 30%, usually more.
Only ate out once on this day, left 50%.
Is nice to be nice.

I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.

Im working the holiday, and every fucking holiday. I don't expect people to give me anything extra just because of it.

What fucking bullshit is this that retail and food workers are suddenly special goddamn fucking snowflakes and deserve a cookie just for doing their fucking jobs?

When I was in the culinary industry, I would've fucking laughed at ANYONE who expected a holiday off. It's part of the job.

This shit right here is liberalism and the gay agenda seeping into our everyday lives.

Stopped at Starbucks this morning. Bought one drink. Paid with a $20, told the young girl working to keep the change.

Got to work and the large cup was 3-4 inches shy of being full... Can I get my tip back?

Because I tip based on service, not the fucking calendar.

Because I fucking sucked it up and drove on as a service industry employee.

Because I didn't whine like a cunt when I was deployed for 6 years of "Holidays"

Because I was smart enuf to pull my own coals out of the fire rather than depend on charity.

Because I don't believe in socialist wealth redistribution, no matter how it's veiled.

The rest of what I should type isn't CoC compliant. Suffice to say, bowl of dicks, no hot sauce.

If .gov is going to make a mandatory minimum wage (which I don't support) then it should apply to all employers. Restaurant owners shouldn't be exempt, it's my job to pay for my food not the restaurant employees salary.

What about us working stiffs that are 700 miles away from home on a contract job.... The only place we found open is a little pizza joint... What thanks do we get for doing our jobs?
I tip well when the service is good, holiday or not shitty service gets a shitty tip, good service always gets a good tip.

Worked a year as a busser.   After a year at that place they usually offered a server advancement to those who showed drive/loyalty to business.    About a week or two from that decision I quit with no notice.    Part of it had to do with a cute hostess running off to college and the rest was realizing the job and the people are shit.

Knew it was a shit job so I left and got a better job.   Dont care if they work a holiday, i work most holidays and  between april and august worked every single weekend without a single day off.

Tough shit find something else if you dont like it.

If it winds up that minimum wage gets raised to something stupid, causing inflation, it will be the end of me tipping period.

Give me touch screens on the tables to order, ring a bell when it is ready, i will pick it up, i will buss my own table as well if it means saving a 5+ dollar tip.

I had to work Thanksgiving once a few years ago at the gas station I was working at. My boss let me bring my dog, even though it was against health code rules, since she knew it would be dead.

Had 3 of my regular customers bring me huge plates of food since they knew I wasn't enjoying the holiday with my family.
