Flesh wound, keep shooting.
Any pics of action / barrel failure? |
|

I bet he wont do that again.
Complacency tends to rear its ugly head when we least expect it. |

Whoopsie. Guess I will triple-check the end of the Dewey rods when I'm done cleaning.
|
|
I get anxious if I don't see my cotton come out the barrel and I'll stop until I find it... What goes in the barrel has to come out the barrel.
|
|
People don't do the thumbnail in the breech and sight down the barrel to check cleanliness anymore?
This accident could never happen to me. Derp. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

How do you even manage to get a jag in your barrel without the rod or cable...and then forget it's there? Or did he get it stuck and just figure he'd shoot it out?

Yup. From the face cut it looks like the action let go. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Pics of gun? Yup. From the face cut it looks like the action let go. But the picture showing the jag in the end of the barrel shows no barrel damage I would expect some barrel damage |

But the picture showing the jag in the end of the barrel shows no barrel damage I would expect some barrel damage Sounds like it happened at the action. "Jag was still in the barrel, loaded a round and pulled the trigger, over pressure opened up the action and the brass hit him in the face." |

Hope you're not next. NEVER say never I know, never say never, but my cleaning routine consists of using compressed air to do a final clean/dry of the barrel, then a visual of the rifling. I'm kinda OCD about it. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

He's damn lucky he kept his eye. I bet he never does that again. Also want to see pics of the gun. |

Now I remember why break action centerfire rifles are a thing of the 1800s.
