I noticed tonight that my two dogs had different eyeshine. Both are mutts of unknown breed. The elder is a brindle with wHite outline that has a greenish blue eyeshine. The other is 99.9% black with a solid yellow eyeshine. Both have brown eyes.

My question is, what causes this difference and what are your dog's eyeshine color? ???

However, since eyeshine is a type of iridescence, the color varies with the angle at which it is seen and the minerals which make up the reflective tapetum-lucidum crystals.

Tapetum Lucidum

I looked that up earlier but when I tried a different angle on each dog it was the same color. So if the angle doesn't matter, I'm guessing the minerals are different in each dogs eye?
