We got Max when my wife was pregnant with our daughter 8 years ago. He was a cute American bulldog pup. Supposedly was the great grandson of Chance on Homeward bound but who really knows. All I know is he lost the cancer battle tonight. Wife and daughter are pretty broken up.
He loved everyone and didn't have a mean bone in his body. Gonna miss you bud. |

Aww sorry man, you gave him a great life and that's all that matters!

It had already spread to his lymph nodes so we knew he was on borrowed time. Funny thing is that the last couple of days he was acting pretty normal. foe the couple of weeks prior he was really down. wasn't his goofy self, not eating like normal not socializing like normal. The last couple of days though he really perked up. He even wanted to play a little when I fed him. Wife found him about 8:45. We dug a hole by the shed for his final resting place. |

So very sorry for you and your family. Especially your daughter. When I was about six years old my German Shepard was hit and killed by a car and it saddens me even now 46 years later.

Thanks for the replies and sympathies. He is in a better place. Like I said he ain't gonna suffer.

So sorry to hear this... I lost my baby doggie just over 3 months ago and think of her every day...I'll miss her forever. Dogs are certainly man's best friend and, if you let them, become far more than "pets". I never considered my dog as a pet... ....she was my best friend ever... |

I'm sorry to hear this.
It's good that you got to share him with your life. It's a shame that you had to let him go so early. |

pouring one out for your dag.
not looking forward to the day i will lose any of my three pups. condolences to you and yours. they truly are part of our families |

Put our dog down about 6 months ago, worst thing I've ever had to do. You'll feel like shit for a few days, but give it a week or so and you'll be surprised how you begin to move on.
Part of life. |

Sorry man. Its amazing how much we get attached to our animals.

I knew it was coming when the vet told us about the cancer spreading to his lymph nodes. He had started losing weight so I figured on having him put down after the holidays so he wouldn't suffer the worst of the cancer. I guess he was suffering it but wasn't letting it show that much. I prefer to remember him as the loveable goofball. He was a hell of a watch dog too. Somebody stole my roto-tiller and he sat there and watched them do it. Never heard a peep out of him either. |

Sounds like a great dog OP. My little buddy is recuperating from cancer surgery.
Sorry for your loss. |

Sorry to hear. My dog Ethyl is my best friend. I gave her a hug when I read your post. I hope she lives forever cause it will kill me too when she ......

Its a rough thing losing a dog. No better friend a man can have.
We put ours down a while back and my house still doesn't feel right since shes been gone. I wake up half a dozen times a night at little sounds now. Before I slept peacefully knowing she was on it. I have an alarm system but I trusted my old Jesse more. 8yr old daughter? I am gonna go ahead and say it. Get another dog soon. It will help her and you as well. I was going to wait a few years but I am a dog person and being without a dog just doesn't feel right. I am already looking into it, I hope you do as well. ETA and you have to post a pic of Max. Please |

Sorry about Max. Sounds like he lived a good life and was a well-loved member of the family.
Just remember when you are ready, there are a lot of other good dogs out there waiting for a forever home. |

It's tough losing one of man's best friends. Sorry to hear of your loss. |

Good dogs don't come along every day. I grieve with you pal.
