A Savannah man is charged with burglary and animal cruelty after police say he broke into a home and burned the family dog in the oven. 19-year-old Alexander Davis is charged with 2 Southside home burglaries yesterday. His girlfriend Evelyn Williams is charged with receiving stolen goods. Police say Davis broke into this Phyllis Drive house, stole several things and put the dog in the oven - killing it.

"I was actually horrified. I do have a dog and he's a very good guard dog. The cruelty in that is just senseless. Just the fact that it happened around here- this is a nice, quiet neighborhood," said neighbor Kerri Bouchard.

The homeowner didn't want to talk on camera, but says his wife and children are very upset about their rat terrier's death- a family pet for about a year and a half.

Police say they were able to make the arrests thanks to an anonymous tip.

Thats almost as bad as those assclowns who BBQ-D the stray puppy

I hope he rots in hell.  Unfortunately, some asswipe judge will let the animal cruelty charge be plea bargained away (just mark my word) and he'll come out of this smellin' like a rose.

Somewhat a bad joke for the news article but in a good way.

I say that burgler should be rosted alive on an open pit grill then fead to wild animals.
But that's just me.

Some part of me considers family pets more than just animals.  
They are in a way children, friends and family, unfortunately the courts do not see it that way in most cases.

But when it comes to police dogs if you injure one it's the same as injuring a police officer.  


How come a family pet is not considered in a similar way?

To some the 'pet' is more than an animal, it's a best friend who they talk to when their lonely, they are there to keep the human company, they are there to protect the human and such.  
To some killing their 'pet' is the same as killing their sibling/friend.

Start it at 165 and then go up 5 degrees per hour to about 400......he'll be dead long before you reach that temp...but who gives a shit.
