Two nights running my sisters dog has snatched a possum off the back yard fence and ripped it up. Tonight I had to humanely put this next one down as the doggy had pulled some of the inside bits into the outside world. I called animal control and asked what should I do with the carcass, the reply was, put in in the garbage.
Dog is unmarked from both and has a full range of shots in any case.

Possums dont carry rabies so the dog is safe. My dog has nailed 2 of them and the vet said no worries of rabies from them.

I shot a opposum in my backyard with my .357. The little bastard walked away with half a body. I let him go. Anything that can walk away with a .357 in it's gut has my respect.

I had a dog that would kill 6 or 7 possum every year. Never had a problem with it.

Nice turn of a phrase.

They are very resistant and I think they said it was technically possible but extremely rare.

I would be very careful about using the following two words in the same sentence: sister and snatch.

sick, just sick

Possums are said to be one of the most disease-resistant animals in North America -- excluding the high mortality rate from Goodyear syndrome.
