I have a question. Doesn't the states Governor have the authority to mobilize that states National Guard in an emergency? Another question, there was some advance notice to the hurricanes landfall, many people did evacuate New Orleans, but not with any real assistance, outside of the Police. After the hurricane, the National Guard should have been mobilized, but I haven't seen any real evidence of this being done. It appears to me that a lot of the blame should be placed on the shoulders of Louisianas Governor, for her lack of action, and leadership. Where the hell were the state agencies, such as Civil Defense when they were needed? It appears to me that all the locals did was sit around and bitch about the Feds response time. By the way, FEMA has repeatedly stated that it could take up to 72 hours, or even longer for the to respond to an emergency in the U.S. That pretty much matches what their actual response time really was. They did lose a some extra time due to sniper fire, and the mob mentality of some of the refugees.

Between her crying and whining, I don't know if she's Governor or Tammy Fay Baker?

They elected her. They deserve her.

There you go, confusing the issue with reason, logic and common sense.

Personally I expect and have made plans to wait ten times that or longer so I have 30 days worth of food and water put aside. I just added six more cases of bottled water and 48 rolls of toilet paper to the pile.

While digging through my bottle water supplies I found the damn rats (now all long dead) had eaten their way into three of my soft rifle cases to harvest nesting material. Two are in the trash, the third is a jumbo sized one for my M1A.

Gotta lay more poison out.

We're heavy on water right now, 5-55 gallon drums, which we rotate every 18 months. If we're careful, our food will last about 60 days at this point. There is a full grain elevator 3 blocks away. Dried corn isn't the most delicious thing in the world, but it will keep you going, as will the wheat stored there. I'm in a rural area, beef country. The feedlot 2 miles to the east of here would be fair game in an emergency. As would our scads of deer. Plus we do have rabbits, squirrels, and a fair pheasant population. I realize you shouldn't count on surviving off wild game, but it is a resource.

All the Governors of the states slammed by Katrina are at fault for the riots, looting, starvation, and lack of planning. They should have mobilized their national guards but they didn't.

They should all be asked to step down.

You couldn't find a more incompetant human being if you tried. She should resign immediately.

It's a good example of why we should never have a woman president (unless it's Condi). They can't handle crisis on a national or global scale.

"point your weapons down, i dont want this to look like iraq" < Semi direct quote from the governor. Sounds bloody dangerous to me. Considering atleast 1 NG man has been shot in the leg with his own weapon, when a law abideing mad citizen jumped him.

Just FYI, corn was what the Roman Army lived off of. It was practically the only ration used.

Exactly..........Condi exhibits the qualities of a woman who grew up in a rough environment - she is progun because she knows the racist roots of gun control FIRSTHAND.......She understands sacrifice.......but Louisianas governor is a gross failure and I am disgusted by this overwhelming LACK of leadership.......

Ah, my brother, but I disagree...respectfully, of course. I happen to think the good mayor of New orleans...you know...the same racist bastard who fired several hundred white cops and hired blatantly unqualified blacks in their place, then was sued and lost, but never apologized...yes, he...is more incompetant than the (very) incompetant governor...but the both of them should be thrown into the stew of NO handcuffed and shackled, with no food, no water, and a cylume stick attached to their foreheads!

Now THAT would be some "Street Justice"!

How DARE you?? This is the same honorable socialist mayor on TV spewing out curse words left and right and blaming the PRESIDENT!! [sarcasm]............did I mention I will NEVER visit New Orleans if its rebuilt?? I hope Social Darwinism runs its course here.......

Just think, we could have had algore as president and the whole country could be sitting around whining like the mayor of N.O. and the gov. of LA.

" Our " Governor is a useless political hack . She was helped into office by the Democratic political machine , ( Mary Landrieu , John Breaux , etc. ) She is an embarassment to this state . Her incompetence is really showing now .
