Now we all know the length to which the media will go to distort gun facts in order to strip us our our rights.
And we all know the mass media is the sole source of information for the majority of the public, meaning that unless it is reported on
THE NEWS they don't hear about it.
And since what is reported on the news is basicly what shapes people's opinions, and thus how they vote.

So if the media controls the majority of the nations opinions does it thus directly control the elections of this land?

If that is true we are in deep sh*t.

So then if the media does control the masses and it is the majority of the masses that will vote how they are told to on TV, can we then say that the concept of democracy is not workable due to the majorities inability to form it's own opinions about what is right and wrong?
Don't get me wrong i am not a communist or anything like that, but should we allow the ignorant masses be the commanding voice in a society?
After all isn't democracy about majority rules?

This is a democratic Republic. NOT a democracy! There is a difference. Look it up.

And we live in a Socialist democracy anyway, so your point is moot.

The media always help to control the sheeple.  If you remember the attempted Soviet coup before the "evil empire" fell, they went after the television stations first.  Funny thing is that the same bunch of people that run their media run ours.  I remember staying in Jamaica several years ago and the radio there was pretty funny.  I am not exagerating when I say that they only thing that you could always pick up was called the news.  It was some guy just repeateing phrases that President WTF is not a drug dealer.  Chief of Police Whomever is not a thief.  They would go all through their two bit heirarchy and start all over. Our reporters are so ingrained with what they are supposed to think that they are no better than that Caribbean propagandist. If you want to read a report on it try this.

Ok then everybody, so if we all agree that the masses are controlled by the mass media, then is the mass media also the main voice on what is also fashionable in this country or what?
Is that why so many Americans are now anti-gun?
Is the mass media the main cause for the decline of behavior among the youth in this country?

Basiclly is the mass media directly responsible for the decline in societies morals?

For instance back in the sixties when all the counter culture was sprouting up, the media knew that drug use was illegal and harmfull but they made it look cool and hip to do drugs by showing the hippies as being a part of a special purpose or something?

Or back in the eighties when all the more recent gun controll BS was taking hold, the media portrayed gang violence as being the IN thing, and that to be in a gang was to be tough.
While at the same time calling for more gun controll, they created an atmosphere in which gang and gun violence was idolized? Mainly by promoting gansta rap on major record lables.

If this is all fact, then is the media in a large part to blame for not promoting healthy and constructive behavior in movies and sitcoms and in music releases, and through all the mass media outlets?

Yes, and yes. The decentralization of the internet is the only thing slowing the flow of said sh*t we find ourselves in.

Hmmm...
Tom Browkaw (NBC):  antigun
Peter Jennings (ABC):  antigun
Dan Rather (CBS):  antigun

Yeah, I guess the media does control the issues and the candidates the way they want to cover them.  And most people don't question any of their reporting and take it as the gospel.  And these guys are getting handsomely paid to do it, and using airwaves that belong to ALL of the american people.

So then the guys or girls that own and controll the media are in fact the most powerfull people on the planet?

Do you all think that maybe the media has an ultimate agenda, or that they just spread and encourage degeneracy because it means a big profit for them?

I'm young and i am really trying to figure some things out here. so all of the imput in really helpfull.
