In myth and legend, and stories of epic proportion a weapon having a name isn't all the odd. Has anyone done this for real?
You'll get bonus points if you even have the name engraved and post pics. |

Mine got named by the company that made them, I've always found that good enough.
No, but I have a corvette named Jesica...........don't ask, botd violation
Yes.
All named after porn stars. I want them to work it hard, even when very dirty, and to take anything I feed them. |
I did when I started out, but the size of the collection has since made it impractical.
This is Jessica.http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/9278/dsc02439ae0.png
Ask jessica if she likes me. I like girls that like me. |

So... if George Foreman owned ARs, would they all be named "George"???
After a while you run out of names.
Or at least the ability to remember them. |
man, i was filling out the warrenty card for my new gransfors bruks axe this morning. one of the fields asked for "name of axe" and i spent 10 minutes thinking up a cool name for my axe before i realized it ment "type" of axe. i wanted to write down OTIS anyway. but i put "small forest axe" like they wanted me too.
bastards. edit: i named my dog saiga. |
Of course
My AR15 is named "AR15", my Glock 19 is named "G19"... |
Only one... My first: a Norinco 56s underfolder I bought because of the impending AWB in 1994
Named it "Hillary" after the cunt...-ry's first lady at the time. Haven't got around to naming anything else |
Several years ago I was wandering around a funshow. Guy had an old Bushmaster ARM Pistol laying there. Looked it over and wandered off. I kept finding myself returning to his table. I was drawn like a magnet. You guessed it....she followed me home. She has a name...
Lorelei I also named my beach stocked Swiss K31. She's Swiss, sexy and blonde. She's.... Heidi. |
Little Bastard - because it is.
Ma Bell - reach out and touch someone Thumper - FAL Giving a gun a name is silly, unless the gun earns it. Then it's OK. |
I'll only name my rifles after they've drawn blood.
My BAR .30-06 (which I've had for twenty years - it's NEVER malfunctioned and I've killed I don't even know how many deer with) is called - you guessed it - "Old Reliable". My A-bolt .300 Win Mag (which has a black synth stock) is called "The Black Death" or sometimes "My Black Bitch". |
My oldest brother had an old 12ga ss that he nicknamed "somtompson". Sometimes it fired and sometimes it didn't. He told me that when I was a kid and I still think back on those times with fondness.
Two of ours are named, so far. AR#1 (husband's) is Virginia - "Because she was my first." AR#2 (mine) is Molly, after the revolutionary Mollys:

The harum has increased since this subject last came up a couple years ago,
but now there are eight lovlies vying for my attention. And they are: Colt 6520LE....Kristen / Colt 6920LE....Shirley / Colt 6721LE....Debbie Bushie A2 HBAR hybred....Annie / Bushie M4A2....Susie Q / Bushie XM177E2 ....Sheila / CMMG M4A3....Sarah / Armalite A2 middy....Nancy There now, I got all their names right , without having to ask them. Their names are loosely connected with girls who's traits somehow remind me of the weapons themselves. I tried to do this with FALs long ago but it didn't work as well. |
No, but when I get an AK, I will name it "Mishka" (the double-diminutive of Mikhail).
Only the older historical guns.
Lili Marlene for my WWI Broomhandle. Nena the Nine for my Red Nine Broomhandle. Natasha for my Bolo. |
No, and I don't plan on doing so for any purchases I make in the future. It's just an object.
Yes, my guns are my harem...and they all have a name...
However, I can't keep their names straight anymore.. |
I usually end up calling mine" God damned son of a bitch!!"
Of course it's usually the ammo's fault!!! |
I have an old .44mag Marlin that has been 'old Betsy' for as long as I can remember, and for reasons that now escape me. All of my kids have always referred to her as that for as long as they could speak.
I named my mini-14 'Robin', after the HLN hottie. I named my 270 Rem 700 "Shiva". Then I found out that Shiva is a dude, so I don't call it that anymore. My 4 yo calls his S/S 22 "April" and his brand new Armalite "Lightning"... alas the AR was mine for about 30 minutes until he claimed it |

I couldn't think of enough names for mine. Let alone remember all of them.
yeah it's name is remington and i'll give you three guess's as to why it is called that
My 10 year old built his AR when he was 7. He promptly gave it a name so awesomely appropriate I have been jealous ever since. He named it "Juju".
Main Entry: juju1 Part of Speech: n Definition: a charm or amulet with magical powers; also written ju-ju Definition: the magical power of such an object Etymology: French joujou 'plaything' Webster's New Millennium™ Dictionary of English, Preview Edition (v 0.9.7) Copyright © 2003-2007 Lexico Publishing Group, LLC |
I refer to my AR as "The Slinky" on accounta the noise the buffer spring makes. Does that count?
If I ever get a pair of identical handguns one will be called "The Diplomat" the other will be "The Negotiator"
That might be cool on a pair of 1911s. |
