Hard to tell in the pics what the crown looks like, but if the rest of the work on that barrel is similar to the shoulder, I'd throw it away.

Can you provide a round count and the number of times thrown down the driveway?
Was a chisel or screwdriver involved in any part of this process?
Looks like it is southern hemisphere rifling, needs to spin the other way to work right up here. |
Tough to tell if the crown is messed up, doesn't look it to me. But like everyone else said, wtf did the barrel shoulder do to you to get that kinda punishment?
What kinda groups were we talking? See you have a quad rail on, who's the manufacturer? What kinda ammo? |
Pretty sure all that blue shit in there would fuck up accuracy pretty bad...
don't use channel locks to remove the muzzle device
can't see the crown well enough, but it looks like there is debris in the barrel still (???) or some physical damage to the rifling just inside the muzzle. photo not close enough to see. |
did you use a pipe wrench on it?
looks dirty, cant tell of crown is jacked or what. You need to do a 20min video showing it.. |
OP, you really need to take a macro shot of the muzzle if you want anything useful from this thread, besides pointing out how mangled the shoulder is.
which leads me to another thing - I wouldn't mount a suppressor to that if i were you. |

Chuck it up in the lathe and refresh the crown.
Bore and crown are everything. The rest, just gets the girls wet. |

View Quote I remember reading about a guy that was curious how muzzle condition affected accuracy. what I took away from it was a guy torturing a barrel, intentionally fucking up the crown in various ways with carious effects, and all problems were solved simply with a hacksaw, knocking about 1/2" off the barrel. not even deburring it, just shooting a couple rounds before shooting a new group, and all was well. wish i had a link to that...it was interesting. |
Looks good to me, if it doesn't shoot 1MOA all day long, you aren't doing your part.
I suggest you put it back in your garbage disposal for a little bit longer this time.

Quoted: Beat the flash hider off with a hammer? View Quote I didn't beat up the shoulder, the manufacturer did that when I sent this upper back because it wouldn't cycle. The crush washer had been flattened to the point that it wouldn't slide over the threads so I assume that damage happened when they removed it. |

You're GTG IMO.
I don't ascribe to the crown makes all the difference thought process. I'd clean it up and smooth it out but, beyond that, you should be gtg. |

That a PSA upper? Friend has a 16" SS upper that would group like 7", I was with him at the time and confirmed it was a POS. He never could get them to respond but he bought it from Primary Arms who took care of him. There's a lesson in there somewhere....

It's possible, but I shot some other groups that day with other guns that were just fine. 6" @ 100 yards with Lake City M193 has me a little concerned lol View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

maybe you just suck at shooting? 6" @ 100 yards with Lake City M193 has me a little concerned lol That's ~50% larger than expected. What sights? Anything loose? |

Dremmel out the imperfections, throw some fluting on it while you have the Dremmel out; GTG.

NOT a PSA upper, I left the carbon because I thought it may give some indication of irregular gas escaping behind the bullet (if the crown was indeed fucked). The crown doesn't look that terrible from the photo, did they say why it wouldn't cycle? I'd be interested in what the chamber looks like as well with that kind of shit work the problem could easily be on that end. |

It was severely undergassed when I first shot it, I think I am going to take the handguard and barrel nut off and get some better pics. Probably pull the gas block off too. |

What the fuck did you do to that thing?
