Not because of if they won't like it, but more for a security issue.  If they know you have 10,000 in guns in yout house and that you work for 8 to 5 everyday, some of them might be inclined to break in.

Just curious what you guys think.

Not so much a gun nut - but more of a reclusive loner with varied interests in guns and chemistry.

i clean my guns on my front porch.  i dont like cleaning them inside becuase the smell of the chemicals, and the porch makes a good spot becuase there are ledges all arounf that i can set my stuff on. So if they pay any attention to me, i suppose they know i have guns. I am not worried about my neighbors breaking into my home though. Maybe you need a better neighborhood.

I live in a neighborhood with big nice houses and where most of my neighbors don't bother to lock their front doors.  Somehow I'm not too worried about people trying to break in to steal my stuff.

Even if someone broke in, they'd have trouble even finding the safe/gun room - and if they did, they'd have a LOT of trouble getting into it.

So I'm not worried. If you had a poll, I'd vote "no"

I live in a condo (converted 2 family) and the other lady knows I shoot.  Doesn't seem to bother her, but then again, she's never seen anything but a few black plastic cases and bags going in and out..

Yeah, mine usually come over when they see the bbq going and me in the back yard belting away with FA

That's why I have a safe, an alarm system, two Rottweilers, and a plexiglass front window replacing the original glass that the dogs broke trying to get the last guy who was fucking around in my front yard

Otherwise, unless they see me carrying the gun cases and ammo boxes between the Jeep and the house, they don't know.

I had a neighbor ask me if I was in a band because of all the "long suitcases" I put in my car on weekends.
Seriously.

Does hanging AR mags from coathangers from my back porch count as letting my neighbors know I shoot guns? (just got painted with Krylon and were drying)
Does wearing my "Vote from the Rooftops" shirt with the Serbu 50 cal. count as well?
How about all the black rifle cases and the human figured targets  that go back and forth between my car and the house when I go shooting?

My buddy's parents live next door...they know...they're cool....but no one else around me has any idea.  I'm is such soccer mom country where I live, the people would SHIT if they knew.

Only problem is, if they ever get my mail by mistake, I think the cat will be out of the bag...a day doesn't go by that I dont' get something from Centerfire, AIM, SOG, the ATF, or someone else who'd be a dead giveaway.

The poor UPS man knows hehehe...he's carried anough ammo up the driveway.

if you openly carry gun cases to your vehicle, they will eventually all know your into guns.

I am very careful about covering mine up or disguising my gun cases when I put them in the car, the best way is to load or unload them inside the garage so they cant see what your doing.

you cant trust the people in my area, there is no way I would openly let them know I was a gun enthusiast.

it's better to not flaunt your guns for security reasons

I think that since I run through a half dozen mags here once a month they know I'm a shooter. Of course, most of my neighbors are too, and those that aren't asked me to shoot any coyotes I see on their land cause they can't.

I live in an apartment, and have several foreign (read: Indian) families that live there... gosh, probably half of my building is Indian...   I'm sure some of them have seen me carrying long cases to an from my car.   The other day, unloading my stuff from Gunstock, I had my M44 out of the case in my trunk.  I put the case on the ground, opened it up and put my M44 in it.... while an older Indian couple from another building were walking by.

Fuck there are a lot of Indian people in my damn apartment complex!!

They didn't really react.  They saw it and kept walking and I just went about my business.

Yes - the 100-yard range & permanent shooting house were a pretty good tip-off...

But I live WAYYYY out in the sticks, my closest neighbors certainly aren't close by "urban standards," and everyone within the sound of our range is related by blood or marriage except for the fella across the road... and he's a co-worker and my very best shootin'/huntin' buddy, who has almost as many firearms as I do.
