Very Simple.
Poll Coming. |
Yep, hate the stiff feel of new clothes. The funky preservitive smell is kinda nasty also.
If they have a stiff or scratchy finish. Otherwise, I just have my valet sleep in them for a couple days to break them in. Then I wear them for a week or two and throw them away.
t shirts I dont, nor tube socks, nor sweatshirts. I don't wear underwear
Where's the "Yes, all clothing items" option?
Yes, they have chemicals and shit in them, plus a lot of things are tried on by others. |
Shirts, T shirts, socks, dress pants, and underwear...always. Jeans, not always.
Depends on why I bought it? If I am out of town and spill something on my clothes that stains or something, I buy something else and wear it out of the store, otherwise, I wash them!
Ever since I wore a brand new pair of khakis to a comedy club with black lights, I wash new clothes before wearing.
Apparantly there was some invisible bleach dye on the crotch that looked like HUGE splooge stains under the blacklights. Lucky for me the comedian didn't see it. |
Poll is goofed up. I voted "I like polls," and it shows zero for that entry.

Dude - you missed the most obvious choice of all:
I DON'T WASH NEW CLOTHES BEFORE WEARING |
Yup |
shitty poll
I wash everything new piece of clothing I buy except silk shirts. |
thats more disturbing than me goofing up teh poll... |
Yeah - that was the choice I was looking for. Why would I wash NEW clothes? You guys are paranoid. |
salvation army / goodwill washes them before they sell them, right?
Where is the NO option. I think votes are Yes/No. Not Yes, Yes Yes No opinion
I always wash news clothes.
Levis Strauss & Co. has this printed on all of their blue jeans. "Wash before wearing," this is to take the stiffness out of new denim. |
+1, Doing Un necessary laundry is not manly. |
I never wash brand new underwear or undershirts
I never wash brand new dress slacks I never wash brand new socks I never wash brand new sweaters [especially since they are outer wear] I do wash new jeans and put them in the dryer I have some new sweaters that Ive worn several times during the winter as out garments and they still have never been washed. I prefer not to wash dress clothing before wearing because I like them to look crisp and new and retain that sharp appearance, because just one washing often makes clothes look "used". |
I always wash them first. Manufacturers use some nasty shit to make the cloth stiff enough to sew easily.
Considering that most of our clothing now comes from China...imagine what "fun" they could have with us...
I wash everything before I wear it. The excess dye/chemicals are an irritant to my skin. Plus you never know who may have tried them on before you.
I don't really have a valet. In order to save money, I have my butler (British) and houseboy (Malaysian) buy clothes for me at Goodwill. That way I know they've been laundered, and I can wear them right away.
Yes. Who knows if that little oriental gal had a bleeding sore on her hand when she made my shirt or jeans?

I've learned from experience that I need to wash jeans before wearing. Twice I've worn new jeans without washing them first, and they gave me a horrible rash that lasted almost a week. I think it was due to sweating in them and causing something to leach out of the denim. The rash was worse around the inner thigh area, where you sweat more. Not fun.
I won't have a new suit drycleaned before wearing, but I will wash everything else before wearing.
My wife won't wear any new clothes until they've been washed. I don't care one way or the other.
+1, I sure as hell don't. Damn, they're new after all! |
one reason I prefer not to wash brand new dress clothing is because I dont like the lint and slight fading after washing, plus it washes out the nice flat creases on your dress trousers and they dont look as sharp and crisp, unless you re-starch them, and if you dont apply the starch correctly it causes starch marks or flaking.
