Holy shit that stuff is good. And it clears the sinuses. This is NOT your stereotypical ramen. It tastes great, and if you're not used to spicy foods, will kick your ass. It even clears my sinuses, and I love spicy foods.

Check this stuff out, you won't be sorry.

There are some asian food stores on line that have them.  I think one is "asianfoodgrocer" or something like that. I get mine at the commisary.

Oh you just discovered that? I had been eating that for a long time. Especially on winter mornings. Think of it as portable fire packaged in a bag.

I love how they made the noodles in a round shape that fits into a pan instead of a square like the American ramen. Why didn't we think of that?

I have this shit, also Nong Shim. Tastes identical to the kind in the pretty package. O-Mart in Killeen, TX had a cases of these on sale for 5 bucks.

The kimchi Nong Shim is even better.

I wait until the noodles are about half done and crack an egg into the water.  Extra protein and tastes awesome.

Eat well on a very tight budget.

You need one of these:

A whole aisle of cased ramen in addition to the regular noodle aisle.
Full of Asian cuties too but you'll take your chances in the parking lot.

Happy shopping!

White trash ramen recipie: Ramen package, can of tuna/chicken, and mayo. mix the shit up and you gots broke-dick casserole. I learned this while in school and drawing G.I. Bill. This meal plan allows you to have extra funds for important items, like beer.

There are several Nong Shim "flavors".....and they seemed to have survived the bad publicity of using rancid oil of the early 90s.   I don't see how anyone could have eaten them to get sick, once you opened the package the rancid smell was overpowering.

For something much mellower, but with as much sodium, Sapporo Ichiban or Ahn Song Ton Myon.

Just stay away from the Baby Stars.

mm

Yeah, 44% of your daily sodium intake.  No wonder more & more Americans are ending up with high blood pressure.
Being a lazy fat fucker doesn't help either.

LA Kalbi is the best bbq a man could ever want or need!

I lived in the ROK for a total of 5 years. The BEST "Shin ramyun" I ever ate was in a small neighborhood restaurant and ask the adjuma woman there to make you shin ramyun. It's like 3 bucks, but she adds the good stuff to the mix. (Don't ask me what that is) and some fresh veggies. Fantastic stuff. 100 times better than the instant from the store.

May I also recommend the following:

Bi-Bim Namyung. Soft noodles with a spicy paste dilluted and mixed into bowl. Will blow your mind spicy-wise. You'll be sweatin' in no time.

Noeguri is pretty good ramyun too.

I'm too lazy to take pics of all the Korean ramyun my wife stocks in the pantry.

It's good. We eat it all the time. At the oriental store they sell bags of frozen seafood. Contains shrimp, scallops, mussels, squid etc. Put that in and you've got a spicy seafood soup.

^^ I also like them with spicy nori (seaweed) strips.  Surprisingly good for a vegetable.

if you like that you will probably like this:

i eat both. what i do is 2 bullion cubes in water, wait till boil, put in packets put in noodles, add lightly stirred egg, cook for required minutes, remove, add real bacon bits (for salad).

eat.

yes, lots of sodium i guess but absolutely killer raymen.

This....
I spent a couple of years digging Thai Baht out of my couch just to eat,and

I must say "MaMa" served me well.... Especially at 5 baht a pack (10 cents +/-)
In Thailand they also have food vendors that serve "MaMa Pak",which is where

they cook up vegetables and add spices to your favorite MaMa flavor....all for about

10 Baht (20 cents +/-) ....  For a little more they can add pork, chicken,or shrimp...

It would end up being a decent amount of food, enough to fill me for a while anyway..
For a while,I was eating this about 3 times a day,spending about .75cents - $1 a day...lol

yea,I was a bit broke for a while...
God bless MaMa!  lol

It's weird this thread just came up. I just had a couple bowls of those within the last few days for the first time in about a year.

I used to have a Korean gf, and she always wanted to have those on hand when she was visiting here in the States.

I first had these when I used to work at Hynix (Korean semiconductor mfg.) and I got hooked.  I used to get the shin cups at lunch in the cafeteria all the time, I would usually have to get some napkins too because they will make you sweat if you are not used to really spicy food.  I have heard that the shin bowl is good too but I have not tried it yet.  Damn now I want one, I am going to have to make a stop at the store later.
