IF he were dead then he would be a martyr to the cause and we would be hearing about it. IT is best to keep him running from cave to cave, effectively neutering him than either killing him or imprisoning him.

IMHO, he's alive but has been overshadowed by the shitstorm he's helped to create. It's more useful to the terror brokers to keep him as a figurehead but marginalized. His days of pulling the strings are past...

I heard this same perspective from Peter Bergen, author of "The Osama Bin Ladin I know"

But with the death of the #3 man - who was #1 operations planner -, and now # 2 (story w/video), this thing is looking very good indeed.

These two scores were a few hundred miles apart- FWIW

For a long time I thought he was suffering a real bad case of freezer burn with us mopping up under the guise that he was still alive. The thing that makes me wonder is the video where he mentioned Bush and Kerry-hard to can that for later release given the timetables involved. OTOH, I don't speak Arabic so I'm left trusting other people to translate his vids for me.

He is alive. But he is wounded (shrapnel) and/or sick (kidney, other). He doesn't want to make videos looking like he is on death's doorstep, wheezing and whispering, or with the left side of his body not working. Second, he was the guy that others would go to to get approval and funding for their plans. He would hook groups up to other individuals or groups to make the whole thing happen. Now he is severly limiting the people he meets with, because any one could turn him in, or be followed, or be captured and interrogated to reveal his presence. So his effectiveness is extreemly limited. If he was dead they would martyr him, and there have been some autenticated audios since Tora bora.

Every video since Tora Bora has a voice that is supposedly OBL dubbed over the top of what looks to be stock "Osama footage."

The footage shown could have been recorded at any time. The vioce, may or may not be him...

I think the dude is dead. He was a total media whore before Tora Bora.
