With everything available online now and accessible from mobile devices, I haven't picked up a magazine to look at, let alone subscribed to one, in years. Seems pretty wasteful to me.

Nope

Gotta have a backup mag in case the iPad dies in the bathroom.

I have several magazine subscriptions to several different gun magazines. I also receive several magazines from different associations that I am member of.

Not anymore.

Some magazines still offer better content of their type than what can be found online. This is even more the case with journals. It can also be difficult to read anything lengthy on an electronic screen. I personally can't concentrate on something on electronic screen for too long, but in print form (or something resembling print, such as a Nook or Kindle) it is no problem at all.

In some areas, like gun magazines, we have in fact gotten to the point where there is little that rivals what can be found online. The issue can be finding the good content, which isn't always as easy as it sounds on something as vast and unorganized as the Internet.

No. The last mag subscription I had was Four Wheeler. Got tired of reading the same thing over and over again - the same variations on heavily-sponsored Wrangler and Blazer builds, custom buggies and SBC swaps, "budget" builds that started in the $20K range. The only thing cool was looking in the reader's rigs submissions and seeing pictures of (mostly) people wheeling in real-world home-built rigs.

Like Al Bundy, I have a lifetime subscription to "Big Uns" magazine. For news, I just read it here in GD.

I get Ski magazine sent to me. But I've never paid for it. I just qualified for it for working in the industry a few years ago and they've sent it ever since. I don't really read it that much either.

always enjoyed reading magazines and still have 2 actual paper mag subscriptions... Private pilot and car and driver.
Link Posted: 10/2/2014 5:55:51 PM EST
What I really want is a subscription service that sends me a couple of AR, Sig, and 1911 mags every month.
Link Posted: 10/2/2014 5:56:27 PM EST
I get so many magazines that the guy at the recycling center thinks I run a newsstand
Link Posted: 10/2/2014 5:56:30 PM EST
Do I say it 3 times or twenty times?

That's just nasty.

But seriously, Highlights for my son, High Five for my daughter. First issues just showed up this week.

Besides the magazines that come with certain memberships (American Rifleman, National Guard, Ordnance Magazine, Newsliner), they're the first subscriptions we've had since I let Shooting Times lapse.

American Handgunner and Reason.

I'll get American Rifleman for the rest of my life, they usually just sit in pile.
Link Posted: 10/2/2014 7:46:06 PM EST
Only Small Arms Review. Sub comes with online access, which would actually be worth the price all by itself.
Link Posted: 10/2/2014 8:27:37 PM EST

Paper is obsolete, and I don't have time the attention span to read anything online.

I miss Ranger Rick and Omni. I loved those as a kid. And Nat Geo too.
