Not all, but some of my Irish relatives really, really hate America.

They're all younger Euro socialists who believe that everything that was bad that ever happened was America's fault.

And before that, the UK's.

Very moral relativist in all respects.

The Dutch side of my family is cool with the US.  They do think we're a bunch of racists, which is amusing given how racist they are.

LOL at the Irish
they never declared war on Germany during World War II
they never joined NATO
the US supported the Brits while the Irish blew holes in bandsmen by remote control, and ceremonial cavalry
so of course they hate us.......

Yeah, what the fuck has Ireland ever done?  Famine, get drunk?

If you travel a lot you soon notice that the news in other countries definitely paints us in a bad light.  Never mind how much the US does to help countries after disasters, how much aid is given to other countries, how many we educate, etc.  As an example, Foxtel in Australia shows some of the dumbest shows coming out of the US including COPS, the swamp people and Alaska shows, etc.  There is a lot of misconception about the US and it seems the media plays a huge role in that.  The violence is played up as something that happens all over and racial issues as often mentioned without the benefit of the true context behind the story i.e. police shoot unarmed black guys often with no updates such as how that troll Michael Brown was shot while trying to take the cops gun then charging him.  The US's role in events they don't agree with seems to be brought up a lot as well.  It's not quite the Ministry of Truth but it's pretty glaring if you pay attention.  In fairness, we do the same thing talking about how dangerous some place is or how terrible places like Iran* are despite lots of folks traveling there without incident.  JMHO

*Not saying I want to go to Iran, but from a couple of people I know who've actually been there, outside of Tehran they say it's not nearly as bad as you'd think and that the people are generally very friendly, interested in what's going on in the rest of the world, scared for their kid's futures and largely don't agree with their government.

The Irish are proud drunks, they'd fight you if there weren't two of you.

Yes, I keep in contact with my Danish family.

No they don't hate America.  However they clearly don't understand America.

My Canadian family loves this place - hell they spend 4 months in Florida.

That's right Florida!

My wife's family in Brazil and elsewhere abroad think highly of the US.

In the last 5 years I've been to both Argentina and Chile on fishing trips.  Treated very well in both countries.  In Argentina there is some unhappiness due to the US supporting Great Britain during the Falklands War, but they treat you okay.  Damn they love us in Chile.  We were literally treated like royalty down there.  Not sure if they love us for our money or our politics, but they are definitely pro USA.

MIL visits family in Germany every year.

No hate that I'm aware of.

I barely know my relatives in this country. I have one living relative closer than second cousin, or Pittsburgh.

Part of my Irish heritage is by way of Chile.

So, depends on where you are and who you're dealing with: tourist areas love American dollars.

There are, however, some hardcore Allende revisionists down there, and they are very much rewriting history.  Part of that effort is to paint the US in a bad light. IMO.

My wife is from the Philippines and they love the USA over there.  The older people still wish we had our bases there.

Ireland has not supported the winning side in either world war.  In both they were neutral and in some case gave discreet aid to the Germans.  Why there is such love for everything Irish in this country is beyond me other than maybe a lot of Irish heritage and of course the drinking.

I noticed some haters on the youtubes. If you criticize an Irish band you immediately get told to FO you American cunt. Those Micks have some thin skin.

Ireland, as in the country, is always either wrong or too slow to coming around to being right on political matters.  Always.

I have relatives and friends in different countries, actually several countries and keep in contact with all of them.

No one hates us.

However, some think we are a bit eccentric.  Sometimes I cannot disagree with them.

Relatives in the Czech Republic.  They love the United States.  Absolutely love us.  One is even a reenactor of a WWII American soldier.

I have family in Cuba. Some are brainwashed commie fuck sticks that we disowned. Some are Pro Liberty Cubans that buried AKs, Vz-52s, and M1 Garands in the mountains. I only talk to the ones that have weapon caches. They don't hate the USA; but they sure as hell don't like it either because of the fucking around the US did in Cuba. Supporting the Batista Dictatorship, backing out of the Bay of Pigs, Obama shacking up with Fidel, the actions the US Government took during Cuba's independence and later cutting Cuba off as an American Territory.

They would move here but instead they enjoy life fucking around with Castro's forces and making money through the black market. They also are mistaken about American Culture. What TV they do get is always distorted view on how life in America really is.

Relatives in Czech and Germany.

My cousin from Germany is the only one that actually visits us though, she thinks Obama is a fucking idiot, and Merkel is a cunt. She has no issues with citizens, but isn't a fan of the bullshit our government pulls off.....then again, neither am I for much of it.

Czech side is about the same.

My wife is Thai and she stay's in close contact with her family.

They LOVE the US and for the most part treat me like royalty..........and I, in turn, treat them as the best people on earth.

It's a mutual relationship.

I absolutely keep in contact with my relatives in foreign countries.

In fact, I expect to see them at Thanksgiving when they fly in from San Francisco and New York.

I was born in Ireland. My family immigrated in 1968. Most of my extended family on both sides were already here though.

I do still have a few cousins still over there. I see them once a decade or so. They bash America pretty harshly. But Damn they sure do like to come visit and buy up all the consumer shit they pay more for over there.

Overall my opinion of them is pretty low. In fact most real Irish can pretty much go fuck themselves for all I care.

I really don't get the whole Irish heritage fascination a lot Americans go batshit over. Fuck that place. My family left for a reason.

That's every country.

The only people I've met that didn't have odd ideas about the US were Canadians. Though nearly all Canadians I know are conservatives that work in the oil industry so there may be some bias there.

Read up on your Irish history, and you'll understand why they supported anybody fighting England. The enemy of my enemy and all that.

My in-laws are from abroad. What they know about the US comes mostly from the TV that we export.

Frankly, though, most of what people here know about their country comes from Crocodile Dundee movies and the "Fosters: Australian for 'Urine'" ad campaign, so I really can't blame them much.

My family and I crossed the Rio Grande just a few years ago, and really like all the stuff we get here in America, its so great that I told all my other relatives and now they are here too, so if I still had some relatives in another country I am sure they would love America, because Obama has given my children hope, and a chance for in state tuition, and we also got drivers licenses here, and you know we did not have to do any paper work at all, isn't America great!!!
