l always thought they might be handy if a bad guy needed to be detained( Duh that's what there for)like breaking in or something. The total upside is that when my girlfriend (now wife) saw them she wanted to "try them out"!!!
 Just wondered if any non LEO owned a pair.

I have two pairs of Smith and Wesson (Black regular hadncuffs, and silver hinged handcuffs) as well as an old beater pair of Peerless, I used to have them for security jobs, now they just sit in the safe

I used to work security, so it was a requirement. I carried 2 pairs of hinged cuffs, now they hang from the bedroom door knob. They get used occasionally.

I still have the same pair of S&W's that I got when I joined the pd in 1984, also have a antique pair of Peerless that my dad carried and gave to me.
Then there's that pair of red-fuzzy ones missus pony keeps in the nightstand. Do those count?

yes, 3 sets.
i have a key on my keyring. never can tell when that might come in handy. always get S&W cuffs. cops use 'em exclusively, in this part of the world. well made. you'd have to be super strong to break/break out of them and then, it'll cause some damage. the edges are knurled, so as to not bruise your date so much when she returns to work, she'll get noticed...

Not on a key ring! You tape the key to the inside of your belt as close to the center of your back as you can get. Then when your arms are cuffed behind your back you have easy access to the key and can pull a Houdini when no one is looking.  But don't say I told you

you never can tell when you'll need a hendcuff key. don't know if this one will be available when i need it or not, but hope spring eternal.
you don't have to be a cop to go into a pawn shop. some girls either like, or need a little restraint at times... it's the essential nature of the human beast.

yes, one pair that my parents bought me when I was 7. I really wanted to be a cop as a little kid, and they went down to Billy Fred's Gun Store in Amarillo and picked me up a pair of S&W nickle cuffs with the two links of chain. Dad kept one of the keys to get me out of trouble, which did happen sometimes. Still have them in my safe. Great memories. I'll give them to my son someday. I also have used them on some chicks back in the college days!

Uhhhh........they are supposed to be put on with the keyhole UP, with hinged cuffs I doubt you could get them off if I GAVE you a key  (its hard enough to get them off with the keyhole facing down...........so I hear)
I pulled my Peerless hinged cuffs out of my back pocket to recheck them for weaknesses Can you be more specific? I got these specifically because they seem to be the best

Are you serious? Do you really want to get that close to a bad guy?If you are, I’d suggest hinged cuffs – preferably oversized (for big guys – barely getting a single click when cuffing a mean, unhappy guy the size of a refrigerator is not a good feeling). Note that traditionally keyed, chain-type cuffs are pretty easy to get out of – plus they can actually be used as weapons. Don’t get careless with somebody who’s handcuffed!! Also note that keys don’t always fit like they should. Before you put your cuffs on |

I actually ordered some SnW's tonight. Have an old pair of hinged cheepies.The keys were so cheap that one time after "aprehending" the girlfriend I went to set her free( Time off for good behavior you know!!) and the key broke off!! If I hadn't had a spare on the key ring I would have been buying a hack saw and hoping for the best. Luckily the second set key held up and now the new ones are on the way.
