Every American should own one or two

[#3]
No, but I do intend to own a few when I have the money.

I currently own a G21 and an extra G20 slide. I figure I'll eventually get a basic 1911 like a Colt 1991 for easier concealment in the summer, and an analogous 1911 for practicing in USPSA.

Yep...a Springfield Armory Range Officer.  Love it.

No, but I am planning on a Wilson for a graduation present to myself.

Yes, and it is one of my favorite pistols to shoot. Smooth, accurate, and just feels good. I was never a fan of them until joining this board years ago but am very glad I ended up picking one up.

Yes but I'd rather have my glock.

Yep, a few.  Built this one myself.  Bunch of Ed Brown parts, Remsport frame and slide, Kart barrel.

Yes, I have 1 at the moment. Its kind of a display piece and very special, so I haven't shot it.

Yes four custom engraved for my last deployment from Colt, sequential SN's

I get it but 1911's just don't feel right.  I like how they shoot, just not how they feel in my hand.

Many, I have owned many.

Currently a very tastefully modified Colt SS Government Model and a Springfield TRP.

I had two.  A Para Ordnance 14-45 and a SA Loaded (parkerized model)

Went to HK and never looked back.

I have owned quite a few over the years but no longer have a 1911. I may pick one up in the next year or two.

Don't get me wrong, glocks are great for what they are...the world's first disposable pistol.

No.

I have shot them a few times, and they're nothing special. Just an other semi-auto, and one that doesn't fit my needs or wants. It basically nostalgia that keeps them prevalent on the market, as they're out-performanced by modern semi-autos from many other manufacturers.

Nothing wrong with them, but there's also nothing special about them.

ETA; OP, your poll is just about useless. All the 1911 fan-boys will come running to this thread due to the title. It's not like those that aren't interested in 1911s are going to be bothered......well, except for me.

Thanks. It's a Wiley Clapp Govt., that I sent to Alchemy to have some personal touches added. Flush cut and chamfered barrel, same w/slide stop, hand cut 25 lpi on the grip safety to match the front and back, and then hard chromed.

Nope. Never even shot one.  Why would I want an inferior firearm based on an outdated design and poor workmanship?

Oh come now.  If the prime discussion point on a TV was whether it is "reliable out of the box"  no one would be buying that brand.  You may long for the nostalgia of a good old fashioned tube TV in black and white with grainy resolution, but there are much better HDTVs out there that work flawlessly.
