For the most part yes if you include legacy equipment and guns.

Some of the best firearms available are military or LE guns. You are far less likely to even find a pistol or modern combat rifle that IS NOT in use by some force than purchase one that is.

A big percentage of ARFCOMMERS shoot Glock 19s, which is used by policia all over the country - a big percentage prefer the Colt M4 or M4A1, which is our current MIl rifle. A handful of people shoot a Tavor, which happens to be the Israeli Mil rifle.

Going a step further, a pistol like the SIg 226 is a great value buy that is one of the most accurate and well regarded pistols in that price range; it's fielded by NSW. The Kimber TLE is what most people consider the Kimber value buy (best features for cheapest cost), and it was developed for LA's swat team. I own both of those pistols, but it's because the accuracy, ergonomics, features, etc. - great minds think alike, I can't help that the Navy Seals and S.W.A.T. likes the same shit I do

How else would a Tier One arm chair basement dwelling commando roll

I have to imagine the number of arfcommers with *only* military/LEO type weapons is relatively small. Everybody has a 10/22 right?

If you're in LE is everything you buy used by LE?
Link Posted: 1/20/2015 1:13:21 PM EST
No. I like lever action guns, single action revolvers, Buckmarks, 10-22s, and older Remington long guns.

I'm in the military, so by definition everything I use is in use by the military, right

Lol.... Hardly. More of the opposite really.

For the most part, yes.

That includes historical pieces that helped shape our great country

Glocks and ARs. So, yeah.

Not too many guns that aren't used by some military in the world, in some capacity.

Let's have a look at a few "non-military" guns...

10/22 - Nope, used by the IDF.
Mini 14 - Nope, used by the Bahamas and others.
Rem 700 - Used by practically everyone.
870 or Mossberg - Nope, USN, the Masterkey, etc.

Even target guns are used by military units - if you count the AMU and similar outfits as still "military," then even your specialized competition stuff is military. At least, it's in military inventory and used by military servicemen.

LE? So that accounts for practically every centerfire handgun ever made, plus most shotguns and many rifles as well.

If I see something I think is cool and gets good reviews, I will buy it. Military or law enforcement using it makes no difference to me.

My go to guns (SR-15 SBR, and Sig X-Five tactical) aren't extensively used by law enforcement or military that I know of.

Yeah, it's very difficult for me to think of any guns that haven't been pressed into service in one form or another. Maybe some of the big double rifles, but even Hemingway reportedly carried one when he was off U-boat hunting and I'd bet the farm at least one ZANU rebel ended up with some .470 caliber holes.
