Do you guys leave your night stand guns, in the night stand, when you leave home? The only gun I like left out of the safe, is the one that I'm going to be carrying. With that being said, it has always bothered me to know there has been a gun left out at home BUT I sometimes lay down and forget to put the night stand gun in the night stand. What do you guys do?

Nightstand gun goes with me when I leave the house. However, I leave the rest of the guns that are strategically stashed throughout the house in their spots, would take too long to collect them all and put them in a safe every time I leave.

To clarify, I lock them up. Not telling anyone else what to do.

Take it with me.

My nightstand gun is my carry gun. So, I take it with me.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 3:43:24 PM EDT
No.

In my possession or locked up.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 3:44:46 PM EDT
I do, but there is two big dogs that sleep right next to it most of the day.

This fits perfectly under my nightstand, with room to punch in the combo. If you are worried about it, just leave it open and unlocked at night

I leave it there 24/7.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 3:47:23 PM EDT
The only thing I have in the safe are the inherited ones I cant replace, everything else is in a corner somewhere....BUT I live in the sticks and my parents live right behind me and its a rare occasion no one is here. I lock them all up if everyone leaves, they eventually find there way back out again.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 3:47:27 PM EDT
I leave it out but I live alone, just me and the dog. I would not do that if I had kids.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 3:51:45 PM EDT
Night stand gun always stays there. I just counted 8 guns that are not locked up. No kids though.

Same. I'm not particularly worried about it either.

I CC around the house so that becomes my nightstand gun when I go to bed. If I'm going out and can't carry, it gets locked up.

My nightstand gun is my carry gun, so it goes on my hip 24/7 except when showering or sleeping. All other guns, including my pump shotgun to be used if something goes bump in the night (in addition to my carry gun), is locked in a safe three feet from my bed.

Yep.

Nightstand gun is whatever's getting carried the following day, so it goes in a holster when I leave.

Soon enough I'll have to change the way I store mine.

Right now the kids are only home when one of us is home, and the bedroom door is locked. None of the kids that are here at any given time can't reach the handle.

Not a big deal to just put it in the safe each morning and out each night, my carry gun sits up high at night and goes in my pocket right in the morning.

I've been so worried about a break in when I'm gone that I've been hiding it at least lately. I use to leave it there all day. No kids in the house yet.

I think one of those gun vaults might be a good idea.

I kind of like a light on a nightstand gun, but not on a carry gun, but that's a separate discussion that has been had on here a few times
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 4:03:54 PM EDT
i have a dedicate nightstand pistol and an ar pistol next to the nightstand and a shotgun next to that. they always stay there.

I don't own a safe. I want one but would probably still keep the guns i want for hd out.

It goes with me. Everything else I leave on the front porch with an ample supply of ammo just in case someone should come along and need a firearm.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 4:06:27 PM EDT
Carry gun in its holster on the nightstand, it goes in my pants when I leave.

I usually do... but I may want to rethink this. I previous lived in a two-story house but just moved into a one-story. My previous house was also in a 'hood that was pretty damn isolated. My new 'hood is not so isolated.

I think I need to raise the priority on getting a safe in here.

ETA: I'll probably also pick up a few various pieces of "concealment" furniture to stash some things in. While they may not lock, some of the items I'm interested in wouldn't be places a thief would know to check.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 4:09:19 PM EDT
I leave it in the night stand because it is my night stand gun. I carry my carry gun. I leave my coffee table gun in the coffee table because it is the coffee table gun. Etc, etc.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 4:09:45 PM EDT
Same as OP. I like everything locked up but sometimes forget.

I'm single with no kids so the only person I'm putting at risk is myself.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 4:11:21 PM EDT
None of my guns get locked up.

Someone is home 99% of the time, very rarely do me and the wife go off at the same time.
We live in a really low crime area half a block from the sheriff's department.

I like simplicity.

My EDC (Kimber Super Carry Custom HD) is my "on top of the night stand" gun when I go to bed. It has night sites, so I can see it in the dark and lay my hand on it the first time w/o fumbling around for it. A 3 cell Maglite is close by too. An AR pistol is within 2 ft of my side of the bed.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 4:27:13 PM EDT
Night stand gun is my EDC too.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 4:28:13 PM EDT
I don't have a safe so they're all in drawers.
Link Posted: 3/6/2015 4:31:11 PM EDT
Nope...

yep, Mrs. Kubota may need one, when I am gone.

I use a different gun as my carry gun, but the nightstand gun is my old carry gun.

BTW no kids in the house

My "nightstand" is a quick access safe.

I never got the pistol as a "nightstand gun" concept.. I CCW my nightstand gun and have both a weapon light and a regular flash light next to it when I go to bed. Everything else is in a safe.. I suppose an ultra compact ccw piece would make me want something bigger for that duty tho.

A nightstand long gun makes so much more sense..

Man, if I went around the house and secured all the guns everytime I went out, I could never go out!
