No hospital is going to give you blood without typing and matching it first.

It's certainly a good thing to know if you ever need blood. I'm AB+ which means I can take pretty much all blood types. In these coming years I wouldn't be surprised to see us at war.

It does not matter what you tell the ER it is, they will use Universal donor or other volume expanders until THEY have typed and cross matched you.
