I do. I remember when Doublefeed changed his AVTAR to Johnny Cash, it kind freaked me out. And then when Airwolf changed his again today I was also having a hard time adjusting.
I'm not saying that you can't do whatever you want. I'm just easily confused that's all! |
Sure, it's easier when people stay with the same one. I was thinking Airwolf hasn't been around for a couple days when I noticed he had a new one.
Not complaining, though. Have at it! |
I'm from the north, what do you expect? |
I have a mental image of the person from a compilation of info from previous post. It rarely turns out to be anything like what they really look like.
Willie Nelson Waylon Jennings Kris Kristofferson Johnny Cash Billy Joe Shaver Merle Haggard David Allen Coe Hank Williams Some obscure ones? Cooter's Garage Band. John Schneider. World's Greatest Fishing Band. You won't be sorry. |

I kept Ryoko for a LONG time. Took it down for Faye awhile back but DK-Prof was so sad to see Ryoko go that I put her back up.
Arnold's vote on banning .50BMG pissed me off so badly that I had to do something (can't afford to buy a 50 until near years end), hence the change. To answer your question, yes I do ID people by their avatars but when one changes it only takes a day or two to associate the person with the image. Only exeception to this is that abomination that BenDover posted the other day . Thank God for Firefox and Adblock. It's the ONLY time on ANY board that I've ever blocked an image. |
Only Sarge....because his movies rule!!!
I recognise other pics, but I couldnt tell you who any of them are...I tend to remember the WORDS people use and not just the little pictures.....unless of course we are talking about pictures of action figures....thats a whole different story |
Persephone: the name, the tagline, the avatar; you're the complete package. Too bad you're taken. |

Ya, but I don't think you look like a goat. I think my avatar is probably one of the most recognizable on the board. |
Can't name any Hank Williams songs? Are you sure you're American???
motown, it was johnny paycheck who sang take this job and shove it.
I'm only in my twenties. Wasn't his career drwaing to a close in the late 60's? |
Willie Nelson did NOT write "Take this job and shove it" |
OK, I'll play too.
That Coe guy was famous for poems...right? Something about a heart? |
Not to nitpick, but Take This Job and Shove It was a Johnny Paycheck song, not Willie Nelson. Hang around here a spell and us redneck folk will edjee-cate yee! |

If That Ain't Country (David Allan Coe)
Did he really sing that one? That was duet with Willie Nelson though right? Mama's don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys, don't let them pick guitars and drive great big trucks, let them be doctors and lawyers and such! Mama's don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys, cause they're never at home and they're always alone, even with someone they love. |
Well.... I didn't really mean it that way... but uh... thanks. |

Hank died in 53 I think.
I remember most of you by your avatars, I miss that black guy on Pangeas avatatr, he cracked me up on Howard Stern. |
For way longer than I care to remember I wore my avatar around on my head everyday.
You work for the Augusta-Richmond county Sheriffs department? |
Undercover from Idaho. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh! |
Nope. I just read the posts, hardly ever paying attention to who posted what.
Hank died in 1953. Hank Jr., is still going stong and was great freinds with Bill Ruger before he died.
I have only had a working avatar for a few months. I was a Team Member for a year and a half before I got it working. Edit, spelling. |
Some people have memorable avatars, The ones I most recognize are Eric the Hun's & Goatboys, but most people I don't associate with their avatars.
I almost forgot Tatiana's(sp?) |
Hell all you Texas boys know Jerry Jeff Walker,as well as you do Natasha!!!
Look out there she comes she comming Look out there she goes shes gone Comming down the tracks just like a one eyed cyclone!! Bob |
Definitely.
It's easy in my case, because my avatar and my name go hand-in-hand. |
I caught a ration of shit when I tried to change mine, now I'm attached to it. I do recognize people by their avatar, and it screws me up when they change them. But what's worse is when some asshat tries to steal one... I caught one fucko with mine, which is a custom .gif that IlikeLegs fixed up for me.
I was polite, but told him he better look for something else. |
<---that's a shot of Palo Duro Canyon.
Yeah, but the reticle wasn't originally there. But I admit, it was a good addition. I think 82nd changes his avatar once a week. |
Yeah yours allways reminds us of Jerry Lewis in the Bellhop when the sniper is trying to hit him while he mops the floor!!!! Yours and Doublefeeds Spaceship were classics!!! Bob |
... Just haven't figured how to change mine
... Somedays I just don't feel so "Super" |
