When I was a kid, I was a pretty serious computer geek:  programming machine code on early Timex/Sinclair and Commodore computers.

I liked a move called Electric Dreams, which was a nifty "computer gains self awareness" movie that took, er um, a different track from the Terminator and Matrix movies.

12 monkeys, time bandits, brazil.

Terry Gilliam is the king of weird movies.  At least his movies make sense and have an actual plot, unlike John Waters for example

Brazil is good.
Memento
Anything by David Lynch, but especially Blue Velvet ("Don't fucking look at me!  Fucking fuck fuckers!") and Wild at Heart ("Bobby Peru knows all about fucking")
Two REALLY twisted foreign films, I Stand Alone (An over the top French Taxi Driver) and Irreversible (A revenge flick that makes Death Wish seem like Snow White.  Also the most blatently homophobic story I've ever seen in a film.)

For SHTF afficinados, The Trigger Effect.  Shows how yuppies would most likely react to a crisis.  Any gunowner will laugh AND cringe at some of the scenes.

I think it was "My science project" . but then there were so many movies that were science class related back then. One of my favorite movies under strange or stupid would be "Runaway" with Tom Selleck a police officer named"Ramsey"and Gene Simmons as the BG. One of Kiersty Alley's first movies. There are more, I just can't think of thier names or the people who starred in them. Take care.

I just saw the last hour of that movie about a week ago on the tube.  IIRC it had Rier Phinex (sp?) in it. plus a few others.  Also those big green aliens that learned english from old T.V. shows.

I loved it groing up.

I do not recall the name of the movie though.

That's from Spaceballs.

My favorite quote from Last Starfighter is:
Alex: There's no fleet, no Starfighters, no plan. One ship, you me, and that's it?
Grig: Exactly. Xur thinks you're still on Earth. Classic military strategy: surprise attack.
Alex: It'll be a slaughter!
Grig: That's the spirit!
Alex: No, my slaughter!

It was called "Explorers".  I liked it too.  I haven't seen it in about a decade.
