IBTP. I do not have an FFL of any sort.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 9:56:16 PM EDT
Not anymore.

An IBTP
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 9:56:23 PM EDT
Yes. It saves me money.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 9:57:00 PM EDT
Got the forms, never applied.

IBTP
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 9:57:57 PM EDT
I did a few years ago, and let it lapse.

I sent my application back in February.  Now the wait...
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 9:58:21 PM EDT
Yes, but I haven't used it yet.  I've had it less than a year and none of my purchases since then have been C&R guns.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 9:58:25 PM EDT
No option for used to but don't anymore.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 9:58:32 PM EDT
I do not.Tell me why I should want one.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 9:59:11 PM EDT
I let mine lapse when c&r guns started getting too expensive to justify
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 9:59:59 PM EDT
You forget, "Used to, but let it go".....

That one would be me....
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 10:00:16 PM EDT
Yes, several years ago. I got for eligible S&W revolvers, bought a couple and lost interest and it expired. Realizing it expired, re-applied and haven't used it yet.

Discounts and mail order guns.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 10:02:09 PM EDT
Kind of want one. But all of the guns I want, that qualify, are too expensive nowadays. Not really worth the effort to save $25 on a $500+ rifle.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 10:03:08 PM EDT
Had one, let it expire.  There were no C&R guns that really interested me anymore.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 10:03:27 PM EDT
Got it so I can get an sbr stamp in Illinois

+1

And the supply of good surplus started drying up.  I renewed it once.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 10:05:23 PM EDT
Nope, didn't even during the heyday of C&R some years ago.  Gun shows around here were good, and I MUST see what I buy.

Lots of guys got stuck with damaged/incomplete/corroded/worn out guns.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 10:06:01 PM EDT
Yep. You need one in order to get a stamp for an SBR here in IL. I also plan on buying C&R guns.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 10:06:05 PM EDT
Sure, $30 for three years. If I use it once it pays for itself in both money and convenience. And I do use mine at least once a year

Not anymore.

I had one for a couple years around 2003. Got a couple Mosin Nagants and a couple K31s on it. It was neat having the rifles shipped directly to my door.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 10:13:55 PM EDT
Yes but I rarely use it.

Been seriously thinking about it, but my FFL only charges me $10 a transfer since I've been such a good repeat customer.
My main problem is I think you have to keep a book of all the C&R purchases you make. What happens after that C&R license lapses? Can you destroy the book?
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 10:52:31 PM EDT
I have a regular FFL but if didn't I might consider a C&R

This.
Same. And before somebody chimes in about discounts - they were disappearing as well, and on most things I could get as good or better pricing from other means (mainly my gunsmith, but also group buys and such).

You keep it, unlike a 01 (who has to turn it in when they give up their license). ETA - There may or may not be a required retention period, I don't know, but you definitely don't hand it over. Mine's around here someplace, that's all I know.

Once your C&R license expires, you have no duty to maintain any records pertaining to your C&R FFL.

Same story here. I did manage to pick up a CZ in 9X18 when they were less than $200.00.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 11:23:31 PM EDT
I have one but barely use it. I want to, the money just isn't there. Ironically, it is cheap enough for me to keep renewing.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 11:27:46 PM EDT
Yes. Requirement for sbr in Illinois. Also nice for old school 22 rifles
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 11:29:42 PM EDT
I had one from about 2005 to 2008.  Never used it once.  I did buy some milsurps but that was before I got the C&R.  It was because we bought a house and suddenly didn't have any more disposable cash.  Oh well.

Had one for a few years but let it lapse. C&R salad days are over.

You also give the ATF the right to come into your house anytime they want to.

I renewed mine but don't use it.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 9:51:10 AM EDT
Yes, and I use it often; I just used it on Saturday.

However, it's rare that it gets used with "sight unseen" online retailers. In general, I use it to buy things at out-of-state gunstores or shows.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 9:53:08 AM EDT
Mine is pending.

Surplus is cool, but I mostly applied so I could buy old Winchesters and S&W revolvers.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 9:54:44 AM EDT
Yes, but I haven't used it in a long time. I used to be big into surplus but all the interesting surplus has dried up.

Still useful, though.

This is really the only reason to have one these days. The big lots of nice condition milsurps sold via SOG and AIM are gone.

There is, however, a lot of secondary market stuff out there, really nice stuff. Being able to buy that gorgeous S&W revolver (or P38, or whatever) you found in a hole-in-the-wall gunshop two states over and walk right out the door with it is a great thing.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 9:58:10 AM EDT
Used to.  It used to be required in MO for an SBR.  That requirement went away, so I didn't renew it.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 9:58:58 AM EDT
I used to have one, I let it expire and have no desire to get another one.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 10:01:44 AM EDT
Like others have said, long ago.
They were great in the early 2000s. Lots of great C&R stuff for CHEAP. Many SKSs, Mosins, and other stuff was purchased.
Now, clapped out ancient junk costs more than new stuff.

Another used to, but let it go. Ended up being $30 wasted, never used it at all.

I had one for 9 years, then let it lapse.  I thought a few times about getting one again.
