I hate my boss.
Slave driving SOB. For example, we worked 12 days straight trying to hit a mile stone and after we finish on time, he give us flack for comming in late. Thats just a small example of his bad management skills. There are many many other examples of this guys problems. I got my mother inlaw at home and a boss I can't stand at work. The only place I'm happy is in my dreams. Life is not looking good right now. I'm in the proccess of looking for another job and its very slow. Did an interview with another company and they wanna hire me but not for a few months. In some serious pain right now. If you can tell me stories about your boss I'm sure it would cheer me up. thanks[:(] |

Yup, my boss pulls some real stupid stuff.
Like spending big bucks on machine room floor painting, while the cooling towers are falling apart. (Duh, we can't provide AC for the building, but the floors look great!) Or how about his utter and complete favoritism to his golfing friend? He's done so much stupid $hit, that I'm convinced he's a classic example of the Peter Principle: from http://pespmc1.vub.ac.be/PETERPR.html The Peter Principle was first introduced by L. Peter in a humoristic book (of the same title) describing the pitfalls of bureaucratic organization. The original principle states that in a hierarchically structured administration, people tend to be promoted up to their "level of incompetence". The principle is based on the observation that in such an organization new employees typically start in the lower ranks, but when they prove to be competent in the task to which they are assigned, they get promoted to a higher rank. This process of climbing up the hierarchical ladder can go on indefinitely, until the employee reaches a position where he or she is no longer competent. At that moment the process typically stops, since the established rules of bureacracies make that it is very difficult to "demote" someone to a lower rank, even if that person would be much better fitted and more happy in that lower position. The net result is that most of the higher levels of a bureaucracy will be filled by incompetent people, who got there because they were quite good at doing a different (and usually, but not always, easier) task than the one they are expected to do. I'm glad I'm not alone.
Rogue Star said "Or how about his utter and complete favoritism to his golfing friend?" View Quote Yeah, this guy does the same thing. Favors these other guys on a different project. Doesn't let them work late and an insane work scheduel like he does to me and my guys. Seriously "F"ed up thing to do. |
|
I don't have those problems. I work for myself. I have other problems.
|
|
I went from a mother/daughter team of owner's that were certifiable to my present job where I have 10 immediate boss's and 7 above them.
|
|
I should start my own buisness.
Seems like thats the only solution. If I go to another job, who's to say there won't be another @ss head. Thats the only true solution. Other than shooting my current boss. OOps, I don't want to give gun owners a bad name so I'll run him over with my car.[:)] |
|
My boss can be very unreasonable. If you don't tell the guy what he wants to hear it will be an unacceptable answer. People who are "A" players don't give unacceptable answers.
I'm not complaining... I get 40 hours a week to do 60 hours of stuff. I'm allowed about 4 hours a week to do 10 hours of research and paperwork. On top of that I have to listen to the guy bitch about how much pressure he is under and that he's thinking about quitting. What a bunch of B.S....Sometimes I wish he could hear himself talk.... |
|
My boss is just an @ss head.
He get himself and his company into situations letting clients walk all over him and he takes it out on us. We get the work done (suffering 60 to 80 hour weeks) to help and he shiets all over us. He needs some serious managment skills. |
|
I bitch about it but not in front of him.
We get the work done, and done well. I have a good buddy who I vent with at lunch, just to make it through the day. |
|
I must have the coolest boss doesnt care what i do as long as the job gets done.I still get paid for a full day whether i work 4 hrs or 9.
|
|
I was working at the LBNSY in the Public Works
section. My daughter came down with the measles and I called in sick for four days, Tuesday thru Friday. Went back to work on Monday and filled out a sick leave slip and turned it in. During lunch back at the shop he comes up into the loft and throws the sick leave request at me and says "You can't take sick leave because your kid had measles, I'am docking you 4 days pay." I uncrumpled the sick leave request and walked up to him and turned it over hanging it in his face and said "You've been a super for 5 years and you have'nt looked at the back of of this, read line 2.'Employee can use accurred sick leave for dependent children illness.'" He did an about face and stormed downstairs. The crew was howling! I spent the next 3 months detailed to the rigging shop, the best job in the Yard. What a dumbass. |
|
ar15roberts,
I didn't need to hear that story. BTW, you guys hiring.[:)] Hangfire, Thanks, That really cheered me up. Sticking it to the boss story is what I needed. I have a smile on my face now.[:)] |
|
Hate hell no. The last time I went shooting with two coworkers they were amazed at the target I brought out. A blown up pic of her from our employee handbook. Vent hell yes we vented. The best shooting we have done in a long while. Now we just smile at her she doesn't know why But We Do. [:D] [sniper]

My last boss was great, saw him about 2 times a month and his attitude was "make a decision and then just tell me what we decided".
My new boss........ [8D] WWoodworth 'Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory lasts forever....' |

hehehehe. (evil grin on my face)[}:)]
I think I would enjoy that very much. Thanks for the sugestion I will be tacking up a pic of that SOB next time I shoot. hehehe can't wait to go. |

My current Chief is a great friend that I look up to, he has taught me a lot. At work he is the boss but off work we are buds.
Hunter out... |

AKIRA, maybee this nightmare will cheer you up...Years ago I had the worst boss ever in my life. Here are a few of the things that made me nuts: First off, my hours were 8am-6pm. I was a mechanic. After the other mechanics left(quit) he changed my hours but not my salary to 7am-6pm. Then he used to make me take every empty quart of oil and turn them upside down to 'drip' into a large can. I am talking about nearly 40 quarts a day. Then he changed my hours again to 7am-7pm 6 days week. If I was ever late 10 minutes, he would take $20 off my check for each incident. For a 12 hour day, I would only get 1/2 hour lunch and no other breaks. He was a heavy drinker and verbally abusive at times to me and the other mechanics. He was very cheap, for example if he ordered lunch for the 4 mechanics and himself, he would make everyone pay equally. Never treated us to lunch. He constantly complained about how broke he was, and when payday came he would deduct any late days and god forbid if you broke a part while doing a job, that would be deducted as well. He had little to no tools of his own, so a large part of my check went to Snap-On tools because I refused to work like an animal with crude tools, hammers and pliers etc..We were not allowed to work on our personal cars at the shop. After 4 1/2 years of his BS and other things that I will not mention because I will lose it, we had words and it led to a fistfight, and me leaving for good. He asked if he could rent my tools untill he got his own, and I said OK if you let me keep the spare motor for my car there along with a bunch of my spare parts you can use them for free. I had no way to get them home anyway. A month later my car blew a timing belt and I needed the heads from my spare motor that I kept at his shop. It turned out that he sold the motor to a customer who had the same car and needed a motor. I got no money for the motor, and I needed the heads so I was screwed. That was the day I went there unannounced to get all my tools and my tool box before they dissapear too. I got two of my buddies to drive down with thier trucks to help me carry all the tools and the box. It was the middle of the day and he had three new mechanics doing my job and using my tools. I said that I was here to get MY tools and things. He said to come back another day because he was too busy and he couldn't let me take MY tools. I walked up to him and quietly told him that if he didn't get out of my way I would drop him right where he stood. He called 911 and ran into his office and pulled a shotgun on me. I was intentionally unarmed and I knew that the police would be there right away beacuse we fixed all thier personal cars and in emergencies we fixed patrol cars and the bikes. The cops came, and they knew me well from fixing all thier cars for them, but since I no longer worked there, I was asked to wait outside. My boss claimed that I pulled a pistol on him before he grabbed the shotgun, but they searched me and the two trucks along with my two buddies who sat in the trucks, and found no pistol. The cops then let me go in and get all my tools and equipment and that was the end of what seems now like a 4 1/2 year prison sentence. I will never forget that boss, he was the biggest A$$hole I ever worked for and each year to this day he hires and loses about 10 mechanics! He had asked me to come back to work for him several times because he lost many customers who only trusted me to touch thier cars. I said screw him

Yes, as a matter of fact I retired from the fire department I worked for prematurely because of him. He was the most arrogant, but ignorant, management by tantrum, prima donna I've ever worked for. In fact, I was reduced in rank from a Captain back to Firefighter because of him. He's the only man Will Rodgers never met!!

You guys think you got it bad. I've got a PC bulldyke for a supervisor that hates me cause she has the hots for my girlfriend. Tell me that isn't f*cked up.

Wow, What a jerk, he would get along fine with my boss. I'm in that situation right now. I have got to leave. Steyr Post up a pic of your girl friend.[:)] |

Oh yeah, I just remembered several years ago, when this same boss was REALLY acting up, I found: http://offtheboss.com/
It helped me out a lot at the time. Check it out! [^] |

Can't stand the sight of her. Mouthy and has too many suck asses.

I have been very fortunate. I have never had a boss that I did not like, nor have I ever had a boss that did not like me. Granted I am still young, and have most of my life still ahead of me, but I am hoping that my luck continues. (knock on wood) For the rest of you, I hope that things get better and that your luck turns around.

Rogue Star: Off the boss is priceless! I just browsed through it and LMAO. I sure wish I had found that when I needed it. Nonetheless it is very well written and funny as heck.[:D]

That was great, had me laughing out loud.
The guys at work thought I was a bit strange and wondered what i was looking at but who cares. I loved it!!! |
|
I don't hate my boss, but think he hates me.
In the last year I have: Slept with his wife. Was put on commission as punishment, and made 125% of my previous salary. Which P-ed him off even more. OSA |
|
On the other side.
My place has put up with me missing lots of time (sick) and even had me on light duty and we have no light duty posts. I work terrible hours and weekends. Thankfull though. Good things are out there. |
|
I pretty well hated my old boss. A 6'4" Mexican that had the worst case of 'little man syndrome' I've ever seen. "Because I said so and that's all you need to know!", exact quote. And this fool must have been ashamed of his heritage because he claimed to be GREEK!!! Sorry Gonzales, it just doesn't fly.
My new boss is pretty okay. He actually goes to bat for us instead of leaving us hang in the breeze. And before I get flamed on the "Mexican" bit, I have many friends of Hispanic decent. Including my work partner, who spent time in Greece (and speaks it fluently) in the U.S.A.F. Besides, those Mexican's sure can cook!!! |
|
I've had a boss from hell. Better to forget all of that.
My boss now is 1500 miles away in another country, if Canada counts as another country. Haven't seen him for about a year. There are several others who claim to be my supervisor 100 miles away, but I can blow them off or flat out ignore them. The site supervisor was out here a couple months ago, but I've only talked to him once since then. The morning conference calls are a thing of the past. Order the parts you need and just keep plodding along. It does not get too much better than this. |
|
I had been working in the restaurant business for the last 20 years. My boss is so brainwashed by his boss it sickens me. I got stuck woking 8a.m. to midnight, 7 days a week from New Years day until I got fed up with it on Valentine's day and gave my notice. I am sure all he could think about was that big bonus check he was going to get because he wasn't paying any other management salaries where I was working. The more I think about it, the more I am starting to hate him. BROWN NOSER
|
|
Everyone here at work is sick of his attitude.
Looks like some of the employees are gonna take him out and talk to him. Its not gonna do any good. That has been attempted. Still looking for a new job. |
|
I love my job, but I hate my boss and his boss too!!
If weren't for the huge mess all the broken glass would make, I'm pretty sure I would have thrown him head-first out this window by now: |

Our engineering manager is clueless. I checked the company transfer regs, and I got an internal transfer to another division, which he cannot block because it came with a promotion. The look on his face when I informed him I was leaving was priceless. He immediately went into damage control tactics and whining, to no avail. It's sweet, like getting a new job without all the paperwork, and I don't have to touch my 401k or lose my stock options.
Don't get mad - get even, or at least get a transfer! [:D] |
|
I have a good boss, nra member too and comes to my cube to read my gun mags, now but in the past some real a**holes. One said I was coming in last and leaving early. i was in before him and left by the clock in my area but his was was 8-10 mins slow so I had let early according to him. But he had help from one of his buddies making crap up about me. I was eventualy fired but since they new they were screwing me and i didnt hide the fact i was a gun owner they gave me 2 month full pay and benies (can we say pay off). I slacked off for a month got a new job and now make over twice as much. They thought they screwed me but it was the best thing they ever did for me. A bunch of dumb f*cks...

Can't be transfered. Its a small start up with only 10-12 employees. The best thing is to quit and look for a nother job. Been doing that but its tough out there right now. My industry is suffering.
Will take time. |
|
Mike,
your right, I should be thankful I have a job right now. Without it I couldn't support my family and my expensive habit. Just doing some venting. No way I'm staying though, as soon as I land another job I''m out of here. |

I've got you all beat. My ex-boss (the CLEO of the county) not only wore dresses--no really, but played politics like nobody's business. My best friend arrested a girl and her boyfriend on a drug charge. She worked for the governor. The boyfriend went for a bench trial, she went for a jury trial. The guy was found guilty. His lawyer complained to the agency. Suddenly, my friend gets fired. The girl walked on her charge because of no prosecution. I was glad to quit (had nowhere to go), and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Been there. Still there, sorta. My boss's boss was a real prick. I lack the suck-ass gene, which didn't help. He'd do things like write a nasty note if I left my calulator on over night. When I'd stayed late and finished a project & drove to the post office (to save the extra day or two that using the mail room would cost), he chewed my ass out in the open office (15 people or so) for putting the postage on my expense report. For daring to defend myself, he threatened to fire me on the spot. The only good part about sticking it out was to see him get twist in the wind, then finally get pushed off the plank in one of several reorganizations we went through. Sweet! At the time, I was a single parent and in court to keep my son from being taken out of P.R.K. while his mom bounced from one state to another. Now he's out of high school and I feel like I can take on the risk of a new job, so I'm looking. Current boss is still lacking just about every skill his job requires, but at least he learned to leave me alone most of the time, requiring only an occasional milkbone or obedience lesson. Oops - that's not fair. To the canines. Do what you need, meanwhile hang in there. You can change your life. [red] P.R.K. |

I too hate my boss..........ya know what that bastard did to me on wednesday? I am on a deadline to get a job done by noon today and I was planning on working late on wednesday to catch up. Well.......he would have none of that.
The SOB made me leave early and go to the range for a couple of rounds of skeet and beers........that Bastard[:)] |

I don't know about you guys, but I love my boss. He's been just great with soy sauce.[}:D]

Mine is an uneducated prick. He's supposed to be in charge of engineering, but has no degree of any kind at all. He even made this comment
once: "I don't know why anybody would study trigonometry unless they were getting into pharmaceuticals or something like that...." I about fell out of my chair, not knowing whether to laugh or puke. He jerked everybody's internet priveleges at work because ONE GUY had downloaded some porn & he found out about it. I'm in REALLY good with our IT guy though- this post is proof!!!! [;)] |
|
My boss is hot. No, really. She's a 5'3" , 32 year old blonde. She's really nice. Our small branch is pretty tight knit, and most of our group gets along fine at happy hour. Am I the only person here who doesn't hate my boss?
