when i retire, I'm moving south for the more sun. speaking to long time residents of sun areas like LV, some of them seem to hate the sun.

so would you rather live a rainy area?

no, however a rainy day once in a while makes a nice change.

This.

I love the fucking sun. When it's 14F and the sun is high in the sky, it makes the cold bearable.

Oh and anybody that lives in Nevada and hates the sun should just leave. It is like people the move to Reno but hate wind.

Move to Sequim.

I'm in the North bay area. The average temp is something like 71*. Its pretty mild. We do get about a week of over 100 in August.
We get a mix of fog, sun, and occasional rain shower in the summer. I think its the perfect climate, unfortunately, so does everybody else.
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:18:25 AM EDT

No, never get tired of it. The heat can get old though.

If I don't see the sun for a couple weeks I can tell that it effects my mood.

Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:18:40 AM EDT
I love it in SC. The summers can be brutal sometimes, but the winters are never too harsh. We also get an early spring

That is one of the things I miss about living in the Bay Area.

When I lived in AZ I did. Often.
Never got tired of the sun when I lived in CA, FL, and now TX...
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:21:52 AM EDT
Thats why I live in Texas. I love the sun

No!

You could just go east a couple hundred miles.

The east side of WA is nice and sunny

After living in florida for 8 years I still say quite often "Damn, it's a nice day today". FYI Florida never hits 100 degrees unlike Chicago where I used to live. I still love it.
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:24:42 AM EDT
When I lived int Baton Rouge, I hated the constant day in day out of sun and humidity. Perhaps being raised in WA had something to do w/ it. In OK, we have a good mix of both.

Yesterday when I was working outside on the yardwork and it was over 90 degrees, a little cloudiness and cool weather would have been nice but, other than when I have to work outside the sun is great. Here in S. Florida there are about 3 months out of the year when it's 90 plus degrees and 90 plus percent humidity every day that aren't any fun, but the rest of the year is good!
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:27:34 AM EDT
Yes. I would love for it to rain every day.
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:27:45 AM EDT
Get both! Winter in AZ and summer in WA. Use WA as legal residence for state income tax purposes.
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:28:44 AM EDT

I burn too easily. I have to really cover up to go outside and it gets hot in all those clothes. The perfect thing would be to live like a rich person and spend summers in the north and winters in the south.
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:29:17 AM EDT
nope.

Big ol' negative.
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:30:08 AM EDT
No but the humidity is another story.

You're in the wrong part of Florida.

I spent 10 years in Alaska and am currently in SW OK. I will never get enough sun.

I live in central Florida, and am currently vacationing in Key Largo.

That should answer your question.

The sun and heat are fine, it's the humidity I am tired of. I like rain, but ambient humidity is tiresome and makes me sweat on my CCW.

I loved living in West Texas where my family is from. Very dry.
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:40:56 AM EDT
Born and raised in south Florida. However, I'm also very, very Irish, and therefore, unable to gain anything positive from exposure. Unless you count cancer as a positive.

Fuck that giant ball of nuclear fire. I hate it.

Lot's of shade here in Mom's basement.
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:43:34 AM EDT
I dont hate the sun.

I fucking HATE heat and humidity. Put me in Sunny weather 70 Degrees and less than 50 percent humidity and I think I would be happy as a pig in shit.

I lived in Western Washington and it was cold, rainy and pretty much miserable except for the 2 week period they call "Summer".

That being said, It gets brutally hot here in the summer time, it will be in the 90's by June and stay in the high 80's to high 90's until about September, mix in some +80% humidity and it gets old. Just go wrap a steaming hot/wet towel around your head to simulate the experience.

It's hot, but it's home

It was cloudy all day yesterday and this morning when I went to take a final. When I got out the sun was shining and it made me feel a lot better just seeing the sun.

More than one day without the sun and I begin to miss it.
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:55:43 AM EDT
Love the sun. Love the heat.... don't really mind the humidity the older I get. Gotta get used to
dressing for hot and humid though.

I know alot of people can't take it, but my wife and I live for summer.

There is no way in hellz I could live in the Seattle area, I'd go insane. I'd also go insane living
somewhere like MN or WI where it's freaking cold 8 months out of the year. If I need a snowblower
or can justify buying a snow-mobile, I don't need to live there.

I have a feeling you won't get honest answers.

People down south esp Texas are too proud of anything and everything that has to do with where they live so they won't out right tell you "ya the heat becomes unbearable at times".

Yep I am in Belmont and I think it is pretty much perfect. I lived on Oahu for 10 yrs and the lack of anything but rainy season and not rainy season was a bit boring but you get over it. I do prefer a little change in the weather and I think it is close to perfect here weather wise.
Link Posted: 5/2/2011 7:57:21 AM EDT
Never tire of the sun.

However I sometime miss the changing of the seasons. The occasional rain storm is really nice when it happens.

I have distant family that does this. Canada to Phx AZ.

I enjoy northeast summers too much to live in AZ fulltime. I'd miss the green.

I welcome any rainy day here in Florida. It seems that from the end of April thru Oct, it is sunny and 90 every day.
