Poll inbound.

People talking about $2k+ watches, less than $400 watches...

I haven't bought a watch EVER that cost more than $30, and I haven't worn one since I got a smartphone about 4 years ago.

EDIT: at 1115 answers

We are at 33.004% saying no, and 66.996% saying yes.

Fascinating stuff

27 and wear A watch daily. I do valve logs at work and it's handy to be able to write times down when I need to. Also I hate talking to someone and having them pull their phone out to check the time, it generally crashes a conversation.

Also, it's a great conversation starter if it's a cool watch. I've had some pretty cute women inquire about it.

No.  Almost 38.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:16:55 AM EDT
Yes, most days.  It's a citizen eco-drive that my wife got me.  I like it, it looks decent without being gaudy, keeps good time....
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:18:20 AM EDT
Eco drives. They look good. reliable. The higher end ones are satellite or radio programmable and just work well. I have 3. Always in rotation.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:18:45 AM EDT
Not since the mid 90s, when I got my first cell phone.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:18:52 AM EDT
59 and yes. Samsung Gear S2. Let's me keep the phone muted and on my belt and still not miss alarms, notifications and texts.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:19:15 AM EDT
I've been wearing a watch since kindergarten...
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:19:21 AM EDT
Yeah.  Time is a big deal with what We do.

Wearing a watch is more important than wearing a knife or a gun.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:19:43 AM EDT
I wear a Samsung Gear S3, and I love it. I also have a Citizen Nighthawk, but I don't ever wear it.

I like having a watch on, and the Gear S3 is also handy because it gives me notifications from my phone.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:19:54 AM EDT
I have worn a watch for a very long time.

Rather handy device.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:20:04 AM EDT
I work in industrial maintenance....no watches at work.

Outside of work, I use my phone
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:21:12 AM EDT
Have not worn any jewelry since the early 80's, not worth the trouble, I have several watches, but they ain't worth me loosing a finger or a hand over!
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:21:20 AM EDT
Yes, 26. Even though I had a smartphone for nearly 10 years, I still prefer a watch.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:25:09 AM EDT
I just turned 30 a month ago and I don't wear a watch. Which "No" should I pick?
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:26:02 AM EDT
27 and I wear a watch everyday.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:27:15 AM EDT
yes.

Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:28:06 AM EDT
I never got the whole expensive watch thing aside from being a hobby. I don't wear one any more but the most expensive one I've owned was about $20. I usually bought $7 ones at WalMart and tossed them when the battery died because by then they were worn out anyway.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:30:58 AM EDT
Since the early 70s, feel naked without one.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:31:52 AM EDT
My anecdotal experience tells me that the poll results over-sample watch wearing folk such as  myself ourselves.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:32:02 AM EDT
Sometimes.  Out in the field hunting fishing backpacking yes.  At work usually no.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:33:11 AM EDT
No watch.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:33:31 AM EDT
Yes. GShock Solar Navy .
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:33:57 AM EDT
Not since I left high school.  My work and my hobbies would destroy a watch, or drag my arm into a piece of machinery.

Are you James Bond? Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan?

Then you will not get laid with a watch. I don't care if you are on BEST timeline or how much it cost...

Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:44:09 AM EDT
I have a cheap Timex 1440 I've worn almost everyday for years.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 2:48:57 AM EDT
I'm in my late 20s and I wear one just about ever day.  Very useful to have.  I've worn a watch most of the time since possibly as far back as the 4th grade.  As an additional data point, I've only used smart phones of any type for about 2 years.

I don't wear a watch to get laid... Simply, I can't have my phone in certain areas or I can't always keep it charged over long weekends.

That is 100% false.  The watch might not be THE reason, but bs it won't help A LOT.

Wear an Apple Watch everyday.

Wore a 17 year old Swiss army stainless everyday before that.

Rolex that pretty much sits in my safe unless I'm wearing a suit or tux.

I wore the Rolex for work once and got horrible looks from the shift workers in the factory when I visited.

Age 29.

Always have since about 12.

At my job it is also mandatory.  Or at least keeping a time piece on your person that is not an "electronic device", in other words a phone.

I've been wearing a Casio Mariner for about 15 years.   Best $64.00 I ever spent.

I own an expensive watch. I don't want anything to do with the expensive(nibble on the end) slut who recognize it.

You're right.

I am wrong. I've had my Buffy's and Muffie's. In certain circles you are correct sir.

ETA: I wish you would have read my responses in context tho.

All the time. And none of my watches have batteries or capacitors either. 30.

70, no do not wear, have a Rolex Datejust and an Omega Speedmaster, Seiko 173 Japan and a few others.

Right now I'm wearing a MQJ Submariner (not waterproof), because my Seiko 173 stopped from inactivity and the SubM can be manually wound.

Hot for a IWC Big Pilot but it costs as much as two European vacations.  Plan to get a homage fake, it would look nice, sitting in the safe next to the other watches.

Forgot, wore out two G-Shocks, the rubber parts died.  Use these for diving.  But use a computer too.

I have a high end alt-baro-compass dive watch.

I haven't seen it in about 2 yrs lol.  I think the movers stole it when I moved.

But watches are a p.i.t.a. anyway
