......Cause, my wife and I would like to share a little secret we found out last month.

"Dial" soap leaves a tremendous amount of soap scum on your shower walls/tub/doors.

We switched to "Dove"(ya, I know that's gay) and the soap scum dang near disappeared. We clean every 3 wks. Hope this helps.

If you don't clean, and let your wife/girlfriend do it, you still might want to share this info. Maybe you might do better in the avg-sex-per-wk threads than the average ARFCOM member.

What is this "soap" you speak of?

Most Europeans are not familiar with soap.

In all seriousness, my mother grew up in Hungary and tells me stories of making her own soap with animal fat and lime. It did the job but was very harsh on the skin.

Ever see Fight Club. Who here wants to make soap? In all seriousness we will sell it and write on the bars all money goes to the brady bunch or the million mom march or some shit.

Yep, I clean the bathroom and toliet once per week or thereabouts. I use this awful smelling soap from Home Depot, but it does a good job of cleaning the bath tub/sinks etc.

For the toliet, I use the equivalent for the toliet bowl, sometimes shut off the water and remove all of the water from the bowl and the tank, and pour the cleaner after the flapper valve to clean out the holes in the rim of the toliet to facilitate the quick down flow of water to the bowl because of water deposits. Watchout don't get this stuff on rubber parts etc because it will soften and destroy them.

I hate the slippery feeling of that "Dove(with 1/4 cleansing creme)" soap against my skin, so I just use Ivory.

I hate dove
leaves me feeling slimy due to the moisturizer
the only thing worse is a combination of dove and soft water

It leaves that crap because it's made of fat.

You act like most members have a girl to clean for them

And you posted admitting you don't use Lever 2000, Irish Spring or Lava?

I cleaned my house before I got a wife.

Now we hire a maid.

My roommate uses that, kinda wondering why the shower gets dirty so fast.
Our shower curtain gets this orange-like soap scum shit on it too, PITA, I just buy cheap shower curtains and throw them out when they get bad.

I'll try to get her to stop using dial, maybe that'll help...thanks for the tip.

I clean.

Even if I could afford it, I wouldn't want someone coming in and going through my unmentionables. The bathroom is an every second day job, which I now only manage once or twice a week.

I use Dove, it cleans off easier than the hubby's soap.

Yeah, we clean our own house... But neither one of us are very good at it.

BTW, been using Dove for years. It keeps my skin silky and smooth.

We tried that Bama; the maid didn't do a good enough job. We are kind of neat freaks. I usually don't have to clean the shower, thank God, but I've seen the difference that the soap makes, and it is really substantial. We have to clean tomorrow, and I just got done taking a shower, and noticed that the darn thing was pretty darn clean. My wife is getting off easy tomorrow.

I believe it is animal fat and Lye.

We use Irvoy soap. I've been told its made out of lye. Don't know. Don't care. I clean my house or force my teenagers too, which is generally more work then just cleaning the damn house.

House cleaner. It's cheap, and much easier.

lol
Us too!

But $60 every two weeks is better than spending my weekends cleaning.

oven cleaner gets soap scum off real good, make sure your vent fan is working well if you try it.

In a perfect world...yes.

My wife cleans, because that is her secondary natural function. The first would be of course holding pie back to get things.
Link Posted: 4/16/2006 11:37:57 PM EST
Ivory soap FTW.
Link Posted: 4/16/2006 11:50:20 PM EST
Zest seems to leave a lot less soap scum/residue than other soaps like Safeguard and Irish Spring.
Link Posted: 4/16/2006 11:54:06 PM EST
So am I the only one who hires a bunch of Mexicans to clean my house?

You changed your name!

I clean my own house because nobody could do it as well as I do.
Plain and simple.

In regard to the soap scum issue? Rain-x applied to shower doors and using a Mr. Clean magic eraser on the walls will allow you to use any damned soap ya want.
