uptalk: a manner of speaking in which sentences are uttered with rising intonation at the end, as if they were questions.

Link Posted: 4/16/2017 9:01:50 PM EST
I do not. I alao don't suck dick, but I repeat myself.
Link Posted: 4/16/2017 9:03:30 PM EST
I had a boss that uptalked. I hated him for a myriad of reasons, his manner of speech was the cherry on the hate sundae.

Do you updog?

Hell no.
I hate it, a female coworker with a queens accent does it after every sentence...I had no idea the queens accent could be made more painful

No, just manspreading at my desk

No, I speak in a gravelly monotone.
Link Posted: 4/16/2017 9:16:30 PM EST
Cuckold faggots talk that way
Link Posted: 4/16/2017 9:17:34 PM EST
No, Hell no! A woman that was assigned my account with one of my vendors does that and every other trendy vocalization. I avoid talking to her at all costs but somehow she even communicates that way via email, maybe I just read it in her annoying voice.

Almost everyone I've met from Minnesota does this.
Link Posted: 4/16/2017 9:19:18 PM EST
I've noticed this type of speech is relatively common amongst Canadians.

"Communication" is being taken over by "showing off".

Link Posted: 4/16/2017 9:21:06 PM EST
Even Australians sound stupid because of it.
Link Posted: 4/16/2017 9:22:39 PM EST
Nope. If I heard someone talk to me like that I would keep asking them "are asking me a question or are you retarded?"
Link Posted: 4/16/2017 9:23:03 PM EST
No and it's very annoying when people do. It seems to be the young folks that generally have this habit.

No. Uptalkers are annoying.

Nope, nor do I begin every reply with "So", nor have I ever uttered the phrase "I know, right?", because that shit is douchery of the highest degree.

Relative of mine did a paper on how people uptalked on Jeopardy....

And yeah, once you know what it is, it's super fucking annoying.

No. That shit drives me bonkers.

Brandon Webb, SEAL. From sofrep. He is the uptalk fucking king.

Whats more fucking annoying is the way johnny depp and lisa marie presleys husband dress up. Those guys need a beatdown.

fuck no. goddamn millennial hipsters.
Link Posted: 4/16/2017 9:45:52 PM EST
"Uptalk" is another way of saying "talk like a faggot".

No.
Link Posted: 4/16/2017 9:47:04 PM EST
Oh, good god, no.

I hate that shit, it drives me crazy and makes me want to punch things (and people).

Another speech pattern that bugs me is word dragging where the speaker hangs onto a word, and drags out it's pronunciation as if for emphasis. As in "it's a loooooong time".
Link Posted: 4/16/2017 10:07:25 PM EST
Is that like upselling?
Link Posted: 4/16/2017 10:14:58 PM EST
Very common with southern California millennials!

It's one of the easiest ways to fake empathy

Jesse James and Paul Jr. do that, you know, like everything's a question? You know?

I hear that a lot too lately. I forgot what it was called (vocal fry)

Link Posted: 4/16/2017 10:44:14 PM EST
No, but almost every young female I hear speaking on the radio does it, and it drives me nuts.

People who do that often put a question mark at the end of statements.

Ex; I don't know why they speak that way?

I am not sure which one is more annoying.

My wife's sister uptalks to a whole new level. My wife is picking it up slowly. I've been on her ass about it too. It's highly annoying and sounds uneducated. And she is a very educated and smart woman. I hate it and can't stop it !
