uptalk: a manner of speaking in which sentences are uttered with rising intonation at the end, as if they were questions.

I had a boss that uptalked.  I hated him for a myriad of reasons, his manner of speech was the cherry on the hate sundae.

I hate it, a female coworker with a queens accent does it after every sentence...I had no idea the queens accent could be made more painful

No, Hell no! A woman that was assigned my account with one of my vendors does that and every other trendy vocalization. I avoid talking to her at all costs but somehow she even communicates that way via email, maybe I just read it in her annoying voice.

Nope. If I heard someone talk to me like that I would keep asking them "are asking me a question or are you retarded?"

No and it's very annoying when people do. It seems to be the young folks that generally have this habit.

Another speech pattern that bugs me is word dragging where the speaker hangs onto a word, and drags out it's pronunciation as if for emphasis.  As in "it's a loooooong time".

People who do that often put a question mark at the end of statements.

Ex; I don't know why they speak that way?

My wife's sister uptalks to a whole new level. My wife is picking it up slowly. I've been on her ass about it too. It's highly annoying and sounds uneducated. And she is a very educated and smart woman. I hate it and can't stop it !
