I was noticing I like to 'collect' things like guns... Hot Wheels... I have over 1000 of them over the years and all unopened.... I dont know why I did that... everytime we went to Target I would but two. One for my kid and one for my stash box. Electric Basses... I have 6
What else do YOU guys and girls collect?? |
Small block Chevy parts. Tamyia armor models. Gun magazines (the kind you read). World War II books.
That's it. Oh yeah... and guns. |
Coins, but I'm not very active in it anymore.
I also like weird conversation pieces. |
Pieces of history: coal from the Titanic, red "tape" from a Civil War document, a Civil War bullet, Roman Empire coins (though I have doubts that those things are authentic), some fused sand from the first nuclear bomb test, etc. etc.
Bread ties.
It's all I could afford after I completed my ex-wife collection. |
I am a "sick" man too lol I have: 3 basses-2 fender precisions and jazz 5 fender strats 1 sg 5 les pauls 5 high end watches 25 numerous fiearms etc etc |
It started with Matchbox and Hotwheels model cars....
Then, onto real cars. Some people bring home stray animals, I bring home stray cars. As an aside, my Mom was working on a patient, when she noticed that the woman's young son was playing with his Matchbox cars. The woman (younger than my Mom) asked my Mom if boys ever stop playing with toy cars. All my Mom did was show her a picture of my then-wrecked race car. "No, they never stop. They get older, the cars get bigger and more expensive." |
I should add... HP calculators, I have a 41CV, 4CX, 42S, 32S & 48GX
But at least that is a side effect of Co School of Mines lol |
Musclecars and Motorcycles.
When I was a kid it was coins and stamps - still have them - might really be worth something today. Still have a few of my late '60s Hot Wheels and a couple early '70s Sizzlers (remember those) Man, Mattel made some cool stuff back then! |
books
I still have a coin collection and a very substantial sports card collection boxed up somewhere from when I was a kid. oh yeah, movies and cds also if that counts. |
Guns & all the things that go with them. If I have an M1 carbine, then I have to have all the bayonet & mags and accessories that go with them.
Ammo. most for shooting but will save representative samples in collection Military field gear. helmets gas masks shovels bayonets etc. mess kits and canteens ,military Palco, Boy & Girl Scout logo , doesn't matter as long as they are not cheap imported knock-offs Old cook stoves and lanterns. Coleman only ( only a few ) One of my favorites is a GI 1950 gasoline pack stove that I found in the trash. The kids and I cook breakfast in the backyard with that one. I try not to go overboard, My collections are mostly acquired at garage sale, thrift shop or on-line auctions if I can get them cheap. Also, I justify it in my head it will be useful for SHTF use or barter. I really like old camping equipment. As a boy I loved camping and slept out in my yard a lot as well as scout trips. The old stuff brings back good memories. |

Hand-painted porcelain (Royal Copenhagen).
Great - I'm officially "gayer" than StonerStudent |
Besides guns, I collect ammo, all separated in ammo cans. I also have a kick-ass collection of autographed baseballs and other autographed baseball memorabilia (mainly Red Sox items). Me and my kids have quite the Hot Wheels collection going, many dating from a decade or two ago.

BIG +1 there!!! It all started when my mom worked at Target...She brought home 6 of the holiday packaged D cell maglites for me. After Christmas they all got clearenced out to $1.44 and she bought me all that was left I've probably got 100+ flashlights. If the SHTF and the sun goes out, I'm set till all my batteries run out. |
Hey dont laugh at the Hot Wheels.. some of those babies are going for 5,000.00!!!!
the ones I am collecting One is worth 25.00... thats it... maybe my kids will cash them in and make the money. |
GREAT!!! Now I have to put a BOTD in the title... |
Do some of yours happen to be Treasure Hunt, or World of Hotwheels convention editions.......some of mine are. I guess that's the part of me that refuses to grow up.....exacerbated by the fact that I have two sons (and maybe one on the way...find out the sex next week) |
Yes I have a few that are Treasure Hunts. but No convention editions. |

knives and packs. I don't know what it is about packs. I hike and backpack some but not to the extent to justify all my packs. I have camelbacs in several sizes and several sized backpacks. Sometimes it's in search of the "perfect" pack and I'll get one that doesn't work out at all, like the camelbac flashflow. It's the waistpack version. I was hoping it would be cooler on my back but instead it feels heavy hanging off my waist/hip.
Oh, the worst of all, headlamps and flashlights. My favorite is the princton tec corona. It's an led headamp which has a switch to enable you to choose various numbers of leds and 2 brightness modes for each, plus a blinking mode! |
I think that's "gay by proxy" |

Hockey jerseys, DVDs, random military patches... and tons of junk!
Swords, coins, Transformers action figures, semi-precious stones, fossils, pocket watches, knives, and science fiction novels. Not necessarily in that order.
I also collect ex wives.
It isn't a very rewarding hobby, but you keep learning new things about human nature. |
