I really don't want to throw away this huge bottle, dated 12/04

In my experience, in time they begin to taste like shit. Literally. If yours are only 9-10 months past due, they're probably just fine. I usually take Centrum, especially when I travel overseas. On my last trip to Egypt, I noticed that the little bottle in my dopp was more than two years out-of-date. I took them anyway, figuring that I'd rather die from funky vitamins than whatever glitch I picked up in the desert.

might have something to do with their tendency to absorb moisture.  iirc multivitamins come with a dessicant inside the bottle to stave this off.
