Do any of you actually believe that the citizens of the USA are ready to elect either a woman or a black man to be the next President of the USA?

I just don't see it happening. I don't think that our country has reached the state that will allow it to happen.

I myself won't vote for either Clinton or Bama just simply because they're Dem's.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:15:37 AM EDT
Yes, they are bribing the sheep with their own money, and the people are salivating over the thought.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:15:52 AM EDT
I wouldn't care either way if said person was the right one for the job.

Neither of those choices are.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:16:09 AM EDT
As Rush Limbaugh pointed out last week. It isn't about gender or religion, which is what the left claims. It is about whether or not we want a socialistic democracy versus a capitalistic republic.

The vote will be about freedom vs. socialism
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:16:23 AM EDT
If qualified yes. I would vote for a Margarate Thatcher long before I would vote for Hillary.

That's how I see too. (As long as they're Republicans anyway)
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:17:11 AM EDT
Absolutly, just not this woman or this black man....
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:18:14 AM EDT
Yes.

It's that the woman and black candidate are Marxists is what pisses me off.

I could give a damn how either is equipped or what color they are.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:18:35 AM EDT
Yes, I believe it can, and probably will happen. Most people believe what the Media tells them, and there is going to be a non stop propaganda onslaught the likes of which the world has never seen. They are going to make Goebbels look like a rank amateur. Count on it.

The Republicans had better get somebody palatable to the masses, and quick.

Nobody is talking about Hillary... he's asking if this country is ready to elect a woman or black president.

Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:22:26 AM EDT
Black guy - no chance.
Woman - maybe.

Agreed.

It it was Alan Keyes I would vote for him in a heartbeat.

I think so.

I'd vote for Condoleezza Rice if she ran.

ETA: No way in hell I'd vote for Clinton, Obama, or Keyes, and its not because they're black/women...
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:23:22 AM EDT
I have no problem with the President being a woman or black. If they can do the job then who cares?

I would like to point out the Michael Jackson is more man than Hillary is woman. If she weren't married I am convinced she would be trying to get the first woman/lesbian president title.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:25:34 AM EDT
I think we fail to see that the pandering from both parties involves mostly the Eastern and Western seaboards with the entire center of the country left out. This is the true voting power of the nation and that is why we are consistently surprised with voting results.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:31:53 AM EDT
i think the majority are alright with the idea.

A lot of the people suspected of not being keen on the idea due to sexism/racism are the people in the suburban to rural areas as that is where the stereotypical "old mindset" still lives rather than in the big city. Ironically these are often more conservative/republican-leaning areas and are therefore unlikely to vote for the current runners, not because they are a woman or black, but because they are dirty dirty commies democrats.

I don't care if the candidate is wearing a tie-dyed turban, baggy jeans. and named Moonbeam Jakwon Al-Shareef Mahmoud. If they represent my politics, they get my vote.

and i would totally pay good money to see that guy as a republican candidate.

I agree. But it wont be Republicans voting based on skin color or gender. It will be the Union democrats from the midwest and southern democrats.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:51:03 AM EDT
I honestly would prefer Hillary to Rudy. better the enemy you know than the one you don't
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:52:03 AM EDT
Do you think there will be a surge of African Amer. votes because of Obama? Was there the same type surge when Jesse Jackson ran?
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:55:59 AM EDT
I've been predicting the following for several years:

The first woman US president will also be the first Black US president and she will be a Republican.

I still stand by my prediction.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 11:56:21 AM EDT
Not anytime soon in my opinion.

Very few men much less women are qualified for the job. I can just imagine the drama that unfold on a global scale when PMS is in full swing.

I could honestly see a black candidate getting electing before a woman.

Exactly.
No Republican is going to vote for them anyway.
The election will be won/lost inside their party.

One day, sure. I believe we are all created equal.

I just hope that no matter WHO gets the Presidency - or any position of power - they don't screw us out of our rights.

Black/white, male/female makes no difference to me.

I was thinking that this would have been a good thread for a poll, but I couldn't figure out how to start one. Do you have to be a paying member or what?

if it wasn't about race or gender, the left wouldn't be making a big deal about the race and gender of their candidates.

I agree that the first black and the first woman will be repbulican. Both could happen with one election, but there is no reason to believe so at this time. I don't think Condi or Powell will ever run. Not much else on the radar.

Colin Powell would've won in a landslide had he run in 2000. Hillary has a legitimate shot to win in '08. I find it hard to believe that people still question our ability to look beyond gender or race. Most of us anyway...

Yes. I would, and I think most Americans would. Hillary and Obama = no fucking way. There are too many people that can't stand Hillary or the name Clinton, and we are not ready to elect somebody named "Hussain".

Switzerland did not allow women to vote at all until 1978, and in some areas not until 1985, but they elected thier first woman president in 1992.

We are long overdue to have a woman or ethinic minority as president. A hispanic president should be possible as well.

While I personally have nothing against a black man or a woman as president, we need to elect the *right* black man or the *right* woman to president.

Hillary IS NOT the right woman to elect.

At this point in time, I really hope that our prejudices will prevent a woman from being elected.

yes, but not the two that are in conention now.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 12:21:15 PM EDT
How about a black woman?

Condi Rice
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 12:23:50 PM EDT
No, I don't think they will.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 12:29:55 PM EDT
I think that most Dims will vote the ticket and right now that looks like either a woman or a black man.
I think a lot of people on this board that don't live in blue states have no idea how much Bush/Republican hate there is right now.

I'm calling a spoiled Reublican loss and Hillary as our next president.
As grim as that may sound, the pendulum swings.

I concur. There is a lot of Republican-fatigue out there.

I'll predict that as soon as Hillary/Obama takes a drop in the nationwide poll, they'll use sexism/racism as an excuse to guilt Americans into voting for them.

They're both that shameful.
Link Posted: 10/9/2007 12:44:18 PM EDT
I'd vote for Condeleeza Rice; but that's because I think she'd be a good candidate.

Uh, yeah, I "actually believe it".

There's enough retards out there who will vote for either, "because they're a woman/black".

I dont care as long as they're not a socialist vote grabber.

That pretty much eliminates the democrats for me.
