According to Federal regulations, ducks can only be legally taken with shotguns using steel (non-toxic) shot. No pistols, rifles, machineguns, (and other methods of take) are legal.
When I was a Game Warden, I did check several guys on the WMA who bagged deer with AK's and SKS's on either sex hunts using 7.62x39mm hollow points. It works and it's legal (in some states). |

Saiga makes a dandy semi-auto shotgun based on the Klashnikov design – probably as close to an "AK-47" as any other gun mistakenly called an "AK-47" by the Brady Morons.
